I may need practice working it, but so far only problem I see is I am not impressed with the remote. Dial on top feels cheap. Hard to lock it on a sound.

Dial works, just remember to keep it pushed in until the writing comes on when you are turning it on. Like I said program your favorite 10 sounds and use the keypad.

What you are missing on the remote is it still works when down in a hole or behind something. The beauty of the caller is it's loud and clear yet has a remote that does what you want it to do. No more holding the dang thing in the air and cussing it.

I had a CS24, great caller, the only weak link that pissed me off to no end, was the battery charging situation. They need to build in a charge jack. I dispised taking out batteries and putting them in a seperate charger, actually 2 charging units to refresh battery life.
Use the pre-set system Andy, I had five calls pre-set, which is all I ever needed, far easier than scrolling andhunting on that gawd damned led screen that no oneover 40 can read:)

Oh ya, Kelly found this charger and it works great but yes it sucks taking the batteries out. Another reason to get an extra battery housing.

The presets with preset volumes are absolutely killer. Learn to set them up and you're good to go, you won't need to scroll while on stand. I only use scrolling to set up my presets.

For batteries, get yourself some of these and you can charge it up at once. I have my CS-24 made up with dual battery packs and removable wires so that I can take them off at -40ºF while traveling on the snowmachine and put them in my pockets.

Ditto for what Snow says. I never take the batteries out of their compartment. Just unsnap the connector and hook up the smart charger.

For any of you guys having trouble reading the fonts, set it up with a space between lines and it gets much easier to read.

I spoke with Mike about the charging issue because I loved the car charger for my Fury. He told me with the battery pack not being in a solid case, the heat would dissapate and cause the batteries to be overcharged.

The charger Kelly and I have works great and even tests individual batteries, so one bad battery won't screw things up.

This makes me nervous. Vic,you HAD a CS24? Why did you get rid of it?

Like I said, I have toyed with it for a total of 10 minutes. I will get the book out, make some presets and see how good it works. I will give a unbiased opinion, no doubt. No body offered me shit.

The remote still does not impress me at this point.

Here is a link to the charger I use. http://www.batteryspace.com/multi-currentuniversalsmartchargerfor96v-18vnimhbatterypackstamiyaplugullisted.aspx

No need to take batteries out of the cartridge at all.

OK Andy, we can give you all the shit you want. [Wink]
It seem to me that some of the first TX500 remotes had a problem with the rotary knob, but they fixed it.

LOL Rich, I dont doubt you will give me shit. [Big Grin]

The battery system hangin off the side in a velcro pouch is kinda weak lookin too. I mean you got this great lookin and feeling speaker. A heavy metal of some sort case that appears to be very sturdy. Then you got this wire that runs into this kind of cheesy lookin velcro battery pack. Looks like a weak point. I may have just missed it, but I think in advertising, there are some strategic pictures taken.

While on batteries, I have have never owned one that ran on AA batteries. What happens if you use regular Duracel Copper Tops or something like that instead of those rechargables? I got regular batteries in it now. Will they just not last as long or what? I will have to experiment. I have never had any of those or a charger. Ill have to do some studying. I would rather have a good gel cell or something like that.

Sorry fellows, I posted a link to the battery pack earlier. Rich squared it away with the right link to the smart charger.

Andy,
I hardly ever use the re-chargeables anymore. The disposables seem to last longer for me anyways. When they are spent, I just take them out and stick the spent ones in one of those backpacks you find all over the place out west. The illegals can have them when they come back for their stuff. Tom64, Does the charger you use and posted the link to have a cig lighter plug? Thats what i really want is one that I can use in the truck. My CS24 never leaves the pickup except to charge it.

Andy,
I wouldn't worry about the battery pack holding off the side of the bracket, it's strong as can be. Mines been thrashed around at -40ºF and hasn't fallen off or snapped the zipties yet. Practice setting up the presets with the TX500 and just get used to how it functions. With the Previous, Pause, and presets, you should be able to do everything and then some on stand.

Cal, I use, or at least I have an inverter in my truck to use this charger with. On the one occasion my batteries were dead, I used my extra battery pack with Lithium batteries in it.

I knew I was getting close so to running them down so I carried it with me on a few days. I wanted to see how long it would last on a charge. With the 2700 batteries in mine it'll go all weekend and then some.

Andy, remember the birth of the CS24 was due to Mike and Bill getting into it on another forum. Mike said he would build a copy of the WT that worked better, thus the battery pack, same on the WT. You can add a gel battery to it or hook it up to any 12v battery, just cuts down on being portable.

Rich, are you using that charger to charge the individual AA cell batteries in the original battery holder that is supplied with the caller?

Or have you switched out the battery holder that is originally supplied with the caller and you are using the 10 cell, shrink wrapped battery pack that TW linked to?

luckyjack, I don't mean to be answering for Rich, but I am reasonably sure he is using the shrink wrap pack that TW posted, and the charger Rich gave the link to. The reason I say that is he gave me the links originally to both items. They have better shelf life than the individual aa rechargeables.

Don't know if Rich uses that DC converter that TW gave the link to.

Rich is probably busy making one of those great Cronk howlers or two.

What would happen if you used that charger to charge the AA batteries in the 10 cell holder that is supplied with the caller?

I don't see why it wouldn't work unless the batteries would get hot enough to deform or soften the plastic holder.

How warm do the batteries in the shrink wrap get when charging with that charger?

It would work fine. The charger has built in smart sensors to protect your batteries.

It looks like the add on battery pouch isnt a problem.

The appearance is what got me, and I swear I dont remember seeing a advertising pic of it, always from another angle. Anyway, it was kinda like somebody built a really, really nice car. Then someone said lets fill er up and take er for a ride. The inventor turned white and said oops! So they ratchet strapped a plastic drum to the side and drove off. LMAO
