I tried something totally different, and I thought some of you might like to see it.

 -

I haven't really been able to figure out what to with it, I originally started making it for someone as a "peace offering" (well over a year ago)... but way too much water has gone under the bridge, to bother sending it to him.

I thought about offering it to Higgy, but I don't know if he'd accept it, or bother to keep it.

I guess it can just stay with me.

Krusty, I can see that you put a lot of hand work into making that call..Very nice job..Forgive me for asking:(Were you fishing when you got the idea for that call?)

Krusty,

Please send me the call. I'll evaluate it, and forward it to Higgins when finished determining if it's worthy of his ownership.

No telling how long this procedure will take.

Dennis,

Thanks.

I wonder if it has enough power to beat "the curse"? -

Nothing else has...

Bearkiller,

I used to offer a free call, to the local guys, in trade for a day of hunting/scouting... funny though, nobody ever took me up on it. -

Melvin,

Being as how I don't own a lathe, all the work I did was handwork.
I'd be afraid to know exactly how much time I did put into that call, I know it was way over 20 (and it still needs a few more coats of finish wet-sanded on).

The idea for the "fin" was not from fish, but from the way some of the antler carvers were using a tine or branch to form the lanyard attachent point.
I used a branch to make this "fin" too, since I knew the grain wasn't likely to split out of the crotch section.

Until the soapstone inlay changed it's name, it was called the "adipose call", so you are right on track with the fish question.

Tripp,

We still don't know if Mr Higgins would even want it (or any other call from me ...it's okay, not everybody does), and I don't expect to hear any type of a reply (that's why I didn't really even bother to ask him).

If you actually do want a call from me (that's not this one [Wink] ), I am sure we could work something out.
And then you wouldn't be in any rush, to finish your evaluation, and pass it on.

I am always impressed with the results, guys who actually kill critters have, with one of my calls. [Wink]

Three years ago I was BEGGING guys in "target rich environments" to take calls from me, where were you when I really needed ya? LOL [Razz]

I've always said you were one of the most talented handcall makers around. That is a very beautiful call. Nice work.
