Hey Buckaroos,

Can anyone tell me about the battery used in one of these units? What are the specs? Amp/hours? Is a charge good for a full day of calling? Where can you buy one, what do they cost for replacement? How long do they last?

Thanks, and good calling. LB

Leonard,
My old WT had a lead acid type battery. 12 volts
3.2 amp hours. They can be replaced at Radio Shack. Good for at least one full day of calling.
I almost always charged mine after a day of calling.

I upgraded to the newer model this year. It's power supply is pack of 8 nickel metal hydride batteries. Similar to what is used for remote control trucks and cars. It is 9.6 volts with 1800 mAh. I have used it this year for 5 straight afternoons of calling and have not needed to recharge yet. It is very small and light and you can carry 2 or 3 more with you just in case.

Also the newer model is now able to switch sounds in 1 second. It changes sounds as quick as you can hit the buttons. Really nice. It also has 6 preset sound levels. No need to guess when the caller is a distance from you. Just hit level 3 or 4 and you are good no matter if you cannot hear it yourself.

Our deer season will be over in 4 more days and I will be able to start calling in earnest. Too many people out there now and you need a deer tag to hunt coyotes at this time.

Rich,

I will be in AZ on December 8 and hunt until December 12. What is your schedule like?

Randy, I have to work Mon-Fri. I have Sat 13 open if you're still around.

I finally got to hear that "Coyotes fighting over food" sound.

Vic said it might have helped him once or twice. In other words, not that much.

I liked it; I can see it as a great second sound for us night hunters.

Good hunting. LB
