Recently found some sites with lion .wavs, and even a little tutorial in lionspeak on the first one:

Thanks for posting this. The first time Steve Craig played the "whistle" for me in the field, I thought he was putting me on...... [Big Grin]

Bob:
Yeah, it was an eye-opener for me to associate the chirps with a lion, too... had to think back to all the times I'd heard weird stuff off in the distance.

Once, while walking up an old brushed-over jeep trail I heard an itty-bitty lil growl a few feet off in the chapparel to my left. Figured I'd roused a grey fox from a nap. Well, I made my call, heard nothing. Packed up and on the way back out saw two sets of stalking lion tracks in the dust, one big, one little. Evidently, baby MLs make a whole bunch of strange noises, even if their mommas would rather they kept their mouths shut.

If you can live with the other features of your caller, go ahead and use your 40 yard remote with confidence. The point is to call a predator closer in, not farther away, isn't it? Purpose of a remote speaker is simply to get the attention off you so that the critter doesn't bust your camo first.

I rarely set my remote speaker more than a hundred feet away.

(Since you posted to a ML thread, I don't feel the need to apologize in advance to the guys trying to find a sprig of scrub to hide behind while calling yotes on billiard-table flat mesas. Or the guys in AK who have to concern themselves with maybe calling a pack of wolves or sow grizzly with cubs. Most other situations, though--for my kinda calling at least-- closer is better.)

yes that is about all the farther i set it to depending on other factors.the problem was it would change sounds by it's self then i could not get it to change back.the sound is poor quality to.i just wanted yo save someone the trouble of getting something and not being happy with it. i did call a coyote with it.but when i tried to get them to howl when i knew they were around i could not get them to respond.
