This is for you guys that are turning your own calls and wondering how best to label the things when they're done. I have my calls laser engraved by a man that recently moved back to my home town after retiring from the North Las Vegas Police Department. He does a very nice job for a very reasonable price (very!) and would be more than happy to talk with any of you that would be interested in having your calls, etc., engraved by him. In addition to my calls, he does a wide assortment of other products as well.
For instance, let's say you're looking to award a plaque or two to someone and you want a unique award. He can take a photo (if the honored person's spouse was so evil as to provide one of the winner out in the field) and engrave it onto a wood panel with the text of the award superimposed upon the picture. The quality of his work is excellent and the images are photorealistic when needed.
As an example of his work, I'm including a picture of one of my calls with my logo engraved onto it. (Krusty... this one's yours) Beneath it is my business card and the original photo of a coyote I trapped doing ADC work and from which the original coyote eyes image was taken. I scanned the photo, cropped it down to the eyes only, converted it to black/white and sent him the image as a .jpg via e-mail. At his shop, we added the PREDATR CALLS arc, saved the entire image to his harddrive and it's all history now. His system is capable of so much more and he can handle almost any task you might want done.

If interested in speaking with him, e-mail me directly at wildside@kansas.net and I'll give you his information

How about aluminum? If so, I may have a contract on a special run of DPMS AR-15 lower recievers. They are Forged aluminum. Maybe some laser engraving arround the body of the lower? How detailed can the system work? Thanks, Jerryboy

I'll ask him, but thus far, everything I've thought of that had a good flat surface, short of a mirror maybe, was workable. He does a ton of wood. He engraved tiles to go all around a pool in Vegas with the department badge logo. As far as detail, his fine work is similar in detail to a lithograph, and a new software program he's looking at engraves at various depths and has almost a 3-dimensional look to it. If it can fit in his machine, and he has room for anything up to about 24X24 inches, he can engrave it. How big are the pieces you're thinking about?

jerryboy, I've e-mailed a link to this thread so he can tune in and evaluate your project for himself. I'll try to contact him tomorrow and see if he made it over.

jerryboy,
Just got offline with my engraver and he's hesitant to do a project as high-dollar as what you're asking. He's done Maglight type flashlights before and says he can do coated metals, but he's running a new system these days and just doesn't feel comfortable doing something that expensive. Now, if you were to devise some sort of medallion-type item that could be affixed to the weapon and would suit your needs, he might be able to work with you on something like that. Sorry. Hope we can work something out.
Lance
