I stopped by the PO to check for mail and received a package with calls from Slydog.
They are closed reed calls made from antler tines. Won't ask how you talked the deer out of his antlers. Makes me wonder if the calls you make in early fall have velvet.
Anyway...These calls are highly polished (inside and out) and sound quite good. No reason why they couldn't call in triples. They are keepers in my book and I will use them next time out (2 weeks min).
I was especially impressed with the unique style for the in-n-out lanyard groove.
I fully appreciate the work involved and time spent on these calls and can see you take pride in your work.
The fact that you emblazen a name on them makes them better. Gives them style. What is the significane of the "0"?
I couldn't get the ball point pen calls to make any sound though. You need a little more work on them.
I'd post pictures but I'm sure SD would be embarrassed because of his humble shyness. Besides...I don't know how anymore.
Shoot me an email SD with your address and I'll put you on the board for one of mine if you'd like to try one (2 - 3 weeks).

Jay,
I got three of those neat "Slydog" antler calls, HA HA HA!
They are tops in both looks and sound. I too got a couple of those ball point pen calls that don't make any sound that I can detect. Maybe these "pen" calls are supposed to work similar to a silent dog whistle or something.

Jay,
I would be really happy to see a picture of those calls.
I would be glad to help you post some photos of them. Many people are curious as to what Slydog's calls actually look like.

Im in the process of a trade with Sly now. Im real curious about these closed reed antler calls, I want to make some myself. Sly makes top of the line quality stuff so Ill post some pics on here when I get mine.

OK Jay sent me some pictures, so I imagine I should post them...
A picture is worth a thousand words... too bad none of the words are "how'd he get the closed reed voices in there"...
I too am highly intrigued by the closed reed calls, they'd be a welcome addition to my line.
Thank you Jay and Brad...

The following image is a direct scan rather than decent photo like Jay's, so I hope these two calls show up well on here. Slydog puts a lot of pride into his work.

Jay the "O" and O on your two calls are the models. Sly has them from "O" to the 2 and I believe that he has LR long range and MR mids, also. They are awsome call that is for sure.

I have two of slydog's calls, and two more on the way. They are truly beautiful sounding and beautiful looking calls, especially the classic. There is a classic in Rich's scan, but it doesn't do the call justice [no offense Rich].
These calls are so highly polished,I believe you could signal an airplane or chopper with them if you should ever have the misfortune of getting lost while yote hunting
!! Awesome,truly awesome,and easy to use too!
