https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2025/05/growth_of_wind_farms_put_golden_eagle_on_path_to_possible_extinction.html

If there is anywhere I hate driving, it’s PalmSprings! Wind turbines everywhere. And the slaughter of birds and bats has not been documented enough.

I particularly admire Golden Eagles. Bald eagles might as well be called the Scavenger eagle, or Fish eagle. Whatever, but the Golden eagle is the quintessential Western American Bird. They need protection. And we are losing 9% a year? Something’s got to be done about the windmills and the solar farms are also killers.

Fucking “Environmentalists” are ignorant assholes! Akways promoting wrong ideas! How are they affecting whales? IDK? But some people seem to think that offshore wind Farms are the culprit.

Good hunting. El Bee

Wind turbines do kill alot of birds!
Some birds travel at night and when they at risk of hitting one of the turbine blades. Some birds migrate you know day or night.

We have 100's of turbines here in Minnesota. Before more turbines can be put up in areas a company is hired to have people come out and record bird movement throughout the year, mostly spring and fall. Every species is documented that passes through a area and this company also goes out and walks around the turbines that are already up and they look for dead birds and everything is recorded. No padding of numbers or fictional deaths as the company that comes out to do survey has no reason to pad or lie about any numbers, just the facts. Some areas the wind turbines should of never been built in first place and that's why now a company has to come in for any new sites before built and find out what and how many pass through the area before permits can be granted.

Minnesota has over 2,700 wind turbines.

California has over 5,500 turbines.

Texas has 19,000 turbines to date.

Minnesota farmer gets 8,000-33,000.00 per year to have on his land.

At night the turbines have a red light on top and run a long line from S-W Minnesota (Benson area) S-E to southern part of the state and then continue into Iowa and go as far south as DeMoines Iowa. At night it looks like a long red snake that goes on and on and pretty cool to see on a drive down into Iowa at night.

They are putting these ''Temples of inefficiency''all over Wyoming. Take away the tax credits and then like magic, no more windmills.

Nice vid. I seen it before been kind of following Land men. just a movie.

Not gonna get nitpicky but its a little off on what's already been done.

For example the power lines have always been there or are in place now, just have to tie into them which has been done, new power lines have also been installed or replaced, towers for power line have always been there just add new line or more of it no big whoop. Sure most everything we build takes fuel or some sort of power, new house, new roads and goes on and on.
Big thing here is solar panel farms which have been popping up last 3 years. Solar panels take up less ground than wind turbines and can be installed most anywhere, Turbines need to be installed on ridge lines. Either one requires a sub station where all the power goes to and then branched out to the country and tied into power lines that have already been there. Nothing new.
Musk said if a solar farm is built in colorado it can be big enough to power most of the U.S.
As of right now in Northern Minnesota, North Dakota , Wisc. ect.most of the power comes from Canada

I’m pretty sure you have locked gates, so chances are of driving in and looking for carcasses.
But I also bet the dawn Patrol has the specific duty of sanitizing the crime scene.

No locked gates here you can walk right up and touch the base of turbine. No dawn patrol either, just a young guy or lady come around once in a while and do a survey and not hired by the turbine company or some private group. believe it or not it's all legit and they just come up with actual numbers with nothing to hide or a reason to hide. Guess you can say they are a neutral party.

Meanwhile, I’ve been watching a bunch of clips of Landman and I’m thinking of signing up for season 2.
Thanks for posting that clip, www!

I can tell you where you won't see any of those monstrosities. Anywhere the rich live. How many are on or even near Martha's Vineyard. Zip, zero. They only put that crap where the small folk live. Nobody GAF about them so why not.

I’m sure you do not realize how aggravating and contrary you can be? At times. It does tend to irritate people, as you may understand? You are technically correct but miss the point. Money and influence talks. Therefore, best can be countermanded very easily if Kennedy’s views off Martha’s Vinyard are spoiled and therefore the best location is not “practical” and plan B is employed thereby somebody’s neighbor’s vistas will be spoiled. And they will claim expenses or other vague reasons for not installing the monstrosity in the logical location. This is kinda basic, Tim.

Back to eagles for a moment;
Sometime before I left the Worker's Paradise of Calif. there was a problem on Santa Cruz Island, with the endangered & protected Island Fox being killed & eaten by the endangered & protected Golden Eagles that had found their way to the Island. The foxes that had zero predator savvy were being hit pretty hard and by Federal Law it was hands off the eagles.
Not sure how it played out in the end but I'm pretty sure that Studies and Grants were required.

FWIW ... Bald Eagles;
When I lived in Olympia one of the lakes that I would fish / canoe was Long Lake. Bald Eagles were common. Dead calm morning with a bit of mist on the water. Had a Bald Eagle swoop down and lift a trout off of the water about 20 yards in front of me. It was a study in grace and style no doubt sent by the Gods for me to remember to the day I die.

Years ago we never had many eagles in southern part of the state, mostly owls and Hawks. But in the spring and late fall I would see them migrate through my area with the ducks and geese. I got a chance to see my first wild eagle swoop down onto the ice and grab a crippled duck. Now days we have local nesting pairs and its not hard to find or see one sitting in a field somewhere or flying about. I'm glad they are back.

Now back to wind turbines. In my part of the country the wind turbine company does a test or what have you and puts it into some computer and graphs how the wind blows and so on. In other words they look for the spots to place a wind turbine. Years ago a glacier passed through the state forming a ridge that runs north to south and down into iowa as well. Most of turbines are built on top of this ridge and catches most of the wind we get out of the n-w or south. Now that the company knows where to place the turbines landowners are contacted as well as members of the township and meeting is held to find out who wants them and how many and has to be approved also by members of the township. Also the company that does the checking for wildlife and travel routes are also invited to this meeting and they have a say on where the wind turbines can go as well so the impact on wildlife is minimum. A landowner says he wants five built on his land and if approved he gets all five and gets paid to have them and turbine company may also offer a incentive to each township so they get little change as well like for maintaining roads which helps save on the taxpayer so it's a win win for everyone. As far as building one in Martha's back yard its up to Martha if she wants one or not and neighbors have to also agree on it. So in a nutshell that's how it is done here and milage may vary in other states. As for the glacier ridge that passes through the state its mostly Red rock and not many build a house on it due to the exspense of trying to drill a well through it.
Oh as far as hunting on land with a turbine its up to the landowner if he wants you to hunt on his land or not, turbine company has no say in it.

Minnesota is pretty much the terminus for the moraines which are the boulders left behind at the end of the last ice age, and the reason for all the lakes gouged out by the glacier. It’s the ONLY source of pipestone for ceremonial pipes used by all tribes. As I understand, there was truce even between sworn enemies while mining or gathering pipestone. Kinda amazing how the word was passed around as to where to go. It’s somewhere up east of Duluth. I don’t know if it’s public land, nowadays? Maybe they just mail order it?

I used to have a whole drawer full of various agate that is common around Minneapolis and I think it was all pushed down from somewhere in Canada. Of course, another thing that all plains people used was “Lodgepole Pine” and they all went to Minnesota to harvest the poles for their teepees, a valuable commodity.

My uncle was a WWII Marine, fought in Iwo Jima and Bougainville. He was a big guy and as such, selected to be the BAR man to protect the flamethrower operators. He had many stories, like jars of gold teeth and some had a habit of taking ears for trophy’s. He was a full blooded Ojibway.

Good hunting. El Bee

He gave me the 45 he carried. I wasn’t able to take it out of Germany, had to leave it, but I sure regret losing it!

There is a town called pipestone which is little west of me perhaps that's where the stone come from and reason for name of town. Pipe stone is on the S-W side of the red rock ridge, yeah we call it red rock here. About five miles west of me is also the Petroglyphs with Indian carvings in stone and only two such places exist in U.S.. One is here and other in Washington state. Red rock ridge also goes by another name which they call Buffalo ridge. On north side of the ridge there is a creek close by and i found two petrified buffalo skulls in creek bed. The skulls date back to roughly 160 years or so. Also the red rock comes in different hardnesses, some hard enough for road beds and roads where some not hard enough for that.

My grandfather had a Indian pipe bowl made from red rock or base or what have you, and then a hollow wooden stem or mouthpiece is added to it. Not sure what happen to that.
