There is a Mandatory evacuation in effect for most of New Orleans.
Mandatory evacuation.
Those two words really rub me the wrong way. Where does the Government find the right to force a private property owner, off of their own property?
I have no problem with them coming to the property owners, and saying that it is in their best interest to leave the area, and if the property owner chooses to stay, that the Government will not be available to rescue them.
But as far as I'm concerned, they have absolutely no right, to tell me that I must leave.
What gives them the right to declare a Mandatory evacuation?

I agree with you.
But, I heard that it's not the Federal Government, it's that mayor and it's not an absolute. Who knows, at this point, but I wonder if they are going after the guns again? For those that decline?
Good hunting. LB

I agree, the government has no right to tell anyone to leave thier property, wether it be a hurricane, forest fire or volcanic eruption.
But by the same token, the folks who stay have no right to beg for help and blame anyone if shit gets worse than they expected
Remember Katrina??

I agree with ya Tim, but in this county, if those same folks stay and lose something, say like a life of a family member, thier gona say the G-Ment didn't do anything for them...and sue for everything they can get...........kinda a catch 22, or an error on the side of caution kind thing.
Do I agree? Probably not, but after Katrina, look at all the fingers being pointed for the lack of evacuations or help.

Im going to be blunt here and hope it offends no one.
Tim, I agree, if someone told me I had to evacuate my property, I would tell them to fuck off.
However, in light of how all those stupid niggers behaved last time and made the government look stupid because they didnt babysit them, I dont blame them at all for calling for a mandatory evacuation.
Again, sorry if the ethnic remarks or curse words offended anyone. Maybe this will help.

I only refer you to my recent diatribe entitled "Too Damned Stupid to Float". If you didn't catch the first showing, I can always do an encore.
I agree about the "mandatory" issue, but it really isn't. I think they call it that because a lot of the shallow-end people are too stupid to know what their rights really are, and by preying upon their ignorance, we're able to help them help themselves, regardless of how foreign the concept might be to them. I watched an official down there today outlining what was going on and he clearly explained that those who choose to secure in place will not have access to any local, state, or federal resources of any kind, including rescue, and that by staying, they need to understand, beyond any doubt, they they truly are on their own.
In a week or so, if things get as bad as they say they will, there will be a nationwide cry of "We told you so!!"
Andy,
Yep, that there was blunt. No offense taken since I don't belong to any of the groups you "attacked" . Now, if you'd included aging bald white guys, I'd have been second in line to kick your ass. Right behind Cronk. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

The only people who should be offended by Andy's remark are the specific individuals it was targeted at. And they should be offended and get off of their lazy asses and quit whining..... that includes their moron mayor who's sole action in the previous disaster was to whine 'Where's Bush?" on CNN.
No way should "mandatory" be mandatory. That said, no expense or risk should be incurred to save your dumb ass or any blame assigned for such lack of effort.
People ought to be smart enough to tune in to the weather and make an appropriate decision, for the rest there should be an evacuation recommendation, ignore at your own risk.

Did you boys forget about all the white knuckle heads that stayed 3 years ago???I think they where part of the rescued people. The people that stayed last storm where just that, people, I don't see how you can generalize it to one race other then to just point out you dis like for Black Americans, Just to start the post off with ((Im going to be blunt here and hope it offends no one.))when you know it would be offensive to some, I find that alone to be offensive..
But, you have the right to say as you please and I am fine with that , everyone has there beliefs and all I can do is hope some day something will bring change.
Good luck to are friends in Louisiana and East Texas,,, [ September 01, 2008, 05:17 AM: Message edited by: George Ackley ]

George, thats exactly what I was talking about. Three years ago. New Orleans is surrounded by water. And its below sea level, the level of the Mississippi and Lake Ponchitrain (sp?). I cant remember if it was four or five days in advance, the people were told to get out. They sat there.
Now, here we have tornados regularlly. We only have 5-15 minutes warning to take shelter. They had 5 days. In 5 days, a person could get somewhere walking. (Im not talking about the sick that were left, just the hammerheads sitting on their roofs and attics.) If you couldnt get somewhere walking, its plenty of time to fill up containers of water, gather some canned goods, you know, generally prepare to live on your own. They sat on their lazy asses and waited for Uncle Sam to rescue them. And, as I understand it, there were some busses. No one showed up in droves that time.
Then, since Im an offensive asshole, would someone like to tell me what ethnic group was shown looting, and accused of raping and murdering in the superdome and other places? How about the mayor that did jack shit to prepare?
I spent quite a bit of time in the region for a couple years after Katrina. First time was 4 days after she hit just south of Jackson MS. Alot of bail jumpers ran to that area because they could make good cash money and hide out. We met alot of good folks, white and black, helping each other in MS. Not so in New Orleans. We had to go into one area of town and the cops wouldnt go and said we were nuts if we went. We did and got our guy. But it was full of niggers. (Dont get me wrong, there are blacks and there are niggers. There are good and bad in every race. Just so happens most of the bullshit was caused by niggers in New Orleans last time. Am I wrong?)
Anyway, I stand by my first post. The government had no choice but to make people leave. They arent smart enough to do it on their own.

There is another group of people there in the path of Gustav, one that isn't making the headlines as they hide out, refusing to evacuate.
They are the Illegal immigrants, who are afraid that La Migra will be waiting when they step off the evacuation bus.
Can you imagine just how bad life in their homeland must have been, that they would rather risk death, than deportation?

I dont know why people get so wrapped up in being PC about race. I really dont. I dont care what people call me. I let it roll off my back. I know Im blunt and speak whats on my mind. I also know I have compassion and do whats right.
I guess my calling my coon ass friends to see how they were doing this morning was offensive as well....

I'm not taking sides, but my observation is that it's always the same. McCain can't say anything negative about Obama, or it's RACIST. Black people routinely call each other "niggers" and they can call you a "honky" but for some reason, a white can't use the term. Ask that guy on Seinfeld, or Hulk Hogan.
It is the damned Democrat policies that turn people into "wards of the state" a total opposite of what happened with the tornados in the midwest a couple months ago. These people are crippled into thinking that the government exists to provide all essentials to what used to be minorities, but are now the fastest breeders and the honkys are the minority that supports a damned good portion of the apparatus that provides all those "free" services. It just makes people all the more dependent on aid....Bush don't care about black folk! It's disgusting.
And, while I'm at it. I have experienced a few riots here in the L.A. area. Looters stealing TV sets and anything else that wasn't chained down and burning what was. Cops didn't do a damned thing when a helpless truck driver was brained with a fire extinguisher, but the Koreans were shooting back and saved their community.
I just wonder, if Obama loses the election, if that will be stired up by the liberal scum and then the poor blacks will take to the streets, helping themselves to TVs and sofas and anything that ain't nailed down? They already have never gotten over Al Gore losing eight years ago. They use anything they can, including the "race card" and a certain segment buys it.
Liberals are assholes, not Andy. Not so much.

Leonard, you are exactly right. We have bred generations of welfare dependents. They have no idea what self reliance is. Sad.
I never understood the double standard either. I dont take honkey, cracker, whitey or any other slang for white people as offensive. I hear niggers calling each other nigger on TV, the radio and in real life. But by god, if we say nigger, were, well uh, assholes. lol
Anyhow, I gotta leave soon. Waiting on a phone call from a informant. Gotta go to Toledo to get a poor downtrodden black fellow (read nigger) that beat the living shit out of his white girlfriend and then took off to Ohio.
Im sure somehow it was either her or GWs fault.... Or maybe my fault?

Andy, when you step back into the forum, you jump in with both feet.
Back in 1993 or 1994, I don't really remember but that was the year we had the 500 year flood. Anyway we had the National guard parked, literally in front of our home telling us we couldn't go home. Now people on the other side of the street were fine to come and go as they please.
What did I do? Well since It was my home and being a Jarhead,I disobayed. Clinton probably took all the bullets away from the weekend warriors anyway, and I think they are tamer since that incedent at Kent State. SOme people obeyed and were left out of thier houses for a week or so. They got about $50 compensation though.
