Well, Obama has convinced me to do something that McCain couldn't do.......namely; To vote for Mcain.
So, with McCain planning on announcing his vp choice on Fri. does anybody have any guesses who his pick will be??
I'm thinkng Liberman (sp?)
Posted by Dan Carey (Member # 987) on August 27, 2008, 09:05 PM:
I was hoping he would pick me, but probably not, so I'm figuring maybe Romney.

I heard it was Rich Cronk! I guess he thought about Rich Higgins but McCaine is allergic to Latex.

I'm guessing Romney at this juncture. Surprise me if it's anyone else. I'll be curious to see the change, if any, in McCain's demeanor at the convention. I kinda hope that in the way that Biden is Obama's "attack dog", McCain will take off the gloves and let Romney calmly offer up the substantiating facts behind John's rants.
Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on August 28, 2008, 09:06 AM:
Nobody's talking about him at this point, but that makes me even more curious. Mike Huckabee, no vetting denials lately, might appeal to the Evangelicals? I don't know if I'm on board with all of his policies, but the man is well spoken.
There was mentioned some female governator, sounded plausable? I hope he announces mid Obama acceptance speech.
Good hunting. LB

that video couldn't possibly be Tiger? OF COURSE! IT'S OBAMA! THE ROCK STAR!
The second coming, he's going to save the world! I don't know why I didn't see it before, but I see the light!
And, another thing. His wife now says she LOVES AMERICA! Damn! Are we that gulible? All they have to do is deny stuff and we all BELIEVE it!
I just wonder if he will decend from the clouds in a brilliant pure white robe, tomorrow night?
I think his handlers are clearing the way for him to be appointed by acclimation, right then and there....who needs a stupid election?

"I think his handlers are clearing the way for him to be appointed by acclimation, right then and there....who needs a stupid election?"
By God, that's what they did yesterday. Just skipped the rollcall vote and accepted a motion to forego long standing tradition to let each state say their piece, and asked for a yell vote and accepted him. Hell, Hitlery was the one that voiced the motion! I strongly suspect that Bill and she have struck a deal with Iraq Osama to nominate her to the Supreme Court. Why work for an eight year at best stint when you can have job security for life?
Posted by Kokopelli (Member # 633) on August 28, 2008, 04:29 PM:
Hillary on the Supreme court for life, deciding my gun rights; now there's a scary thought!!!!!!
Posted by Cdog911 (Member # 7) on August 28, 2008, 07:07 PM:
More than a thought or possibility. It's a likelihood, and just one more HUGE reason to make sure Obama isn't elected. The reasons for which he shouldn't be elected are so overwhelmingly HUGE that I shudder just to think about it.

Palin ain't bad for a 44 years old.
On the other hand, she was chastised recently for allowing someone within her hierarchy (the Alaskan state government) for trying to force the firing of a state trooper who was going through a divorce with a niece of hers.
On the other hand- she is a lifetime member of the NRA and is an avid hunter and fisherman.
She doesn't just talk about change, she's changed Alaska for the better since taking office.

I think McCain made a wise choice.
Funny, the democrats never wanted to talk about Obamas total lack of experience but now they want to attack Sarahs. Funny.
She still has more experience than the little muslim boy, and he's running for PRESIDENT for gods sake.
The more the liberals attack this woman, the bigger the backlash against them
And BTW...from here on out, I am referring to Obama as the half honkey donkey

Actually it was the firing of her ex-brother-n-law, that she, her husband and father were trying to facilitate.
I voted for her the first time but wasn't gona vote for the next time around and I think alot of her supporters felt that way.
They stated she had an 80-85% approval rating in July, but I wonder what neighbor hood they polled in. From all her supporters I talked to, she wasn't going to get the next vote from them.
She is no different then any other polly, but she ran on honesty, and taking down here own party members that were inethical. Which is good, but then it appears she was no different?
Who knows she might do something, but I would like to see what other dirty laundry the Dummycrats will pull up on her.
Heres one link for some reading enjoyment on her.

Hey, AY. Sure, we want to know all the dirt, but isn't it a little early in the game to be doing the Dems job for them? I mean, what's your point? She's unqualified like Obama? She has a few skeletons, like Obama? She's young, like Obama? I mean, who passes the sniff test for ya? It's done, why diss the lady unless you feel strongly enough to go over to the other side? Is this woman's record the reason why you would change your mind about voting for McCain? It's crystal clear, for me, the difference between the candidates, VP choices not withstanding. Regardless of any negatives that may emerge, I'm personally warming up to her, I think she is a better choice than Romney, for instance. There are a pile of voters that wouldn't vote for a Morman and a lot of potential female voters that may vote Republican because this lady is on the ticket. Don't be such a grump!
Good hunting. LB

Look at her site, there is some good verifiable info. The trooper firing thing is purty much incorrect.
Many 'checks' were done on some stuff she supposedly did. Read for yourself.
I know nothing about her, other than the press, aint saying she is wonderful or nuthin like that. I think it was a damn good choice by McCain.
and I think she is HOT!!!

I'm not going to the other side LB.
But I won't have too. McCain is the best democrat running and he just got a whole lot better.
We have been dealing with her for two years, the US of A is just getting a first look at her. So just give her a lil' time and you'll probably agree somewhat.
Most Alaskans are gona be happy to see her go thats all.
Come on Carl ya got be better then "look at her site its all there"? How about looking at the local news arenas and seeing what the Department of Public Safety is saying about it, ie recorded telephone calls, emails etc.....? Watch and see where the investigation goes.
Just an opinion based on living under her rule for two years, and coming from someone who actually voted on her.
But hey she's a hotty!

Gov. Sarah Palin has five kids one of which has Downs syndrome. She walks the walk on pro life.
She's got more executive experience than Hussein Obama. He's been in the Senate three years and all he's done is run for president all three years.
Hillary got her senate job on Bill's coattails. She never held elected office until New York put her in office.
I think Palin is the real deal and a smart choice for old man McCain.
Posted by Cdog911 (Member # 7) on August 29, 2008, 07:32 PM:
I've been keeping an eye on her for political reasons for some time and am impressed. AY is the first Alaskan I've seen post a discouraging word anywhere, and I've even talked to several people who really like her. Hell, her approval rating in Alaska right now is roughly 8X better than the entire Congress is nationally.
IMO, this woman - this candidate - represents the exact opposite of everything WRONG about Biden and, in doing so, magnifies his weaknesses. I see her as a hell of an obstacle for Biden, Obama and their party to work around without pissing off their entire base. Allow me to elaborate.
First off, she's a woman. Word on the winds is that Obama very much wanted to bring our Governor Kathleen Sebelius along with him as his veep but they were scared that by doing so, and passing over Hillary in the process, they would lose all her voters. So, they took Biden instead and, frankly, no one is upset in the least. Especially Biden lovers and Republicans. LOL
In her administration in Alaska, she's demonstrated an ability to work with Republicans, Democrats, Independents and Libertarians alike. I don't live there, and residents can give you a better idea of who she is than I can for sure, but that says something for her - that her requirements have nothing to do with party affiliation, but rather, with results and capabilities. If the dems go after her because she has ovaries, they're gonna piss off a lot of women, many of who are already sitting on the fence after they passed over the Hil-monster.
Second, she has little background for them to draw dirt from. If you have a lot of experience and all of it is potentially dirty, what good comes from that? She's an outsider,, and the furthest thing from an old Washington insider.
Biden, on the other hand, manifests everything that Obama has chastised throughout his campaign. Obama's for change, doing away with the status quo, and leaving business as usual in the dust. While, on one hand, he brought Biden on board because of his own lack of experience, in doing so and on the other, he nullified everything he's said and done to convince us that he'll make things different by hiring on a man who IS business as usual in D.C.. After all, the man has tried unsuccessfully how many times now to run for President? Yet, somehow, the dems think we're okay with putting him on the "B" team, one heartbeat away from the Big Kahuna? Hardly.
This is a down to earth woman who has demonstrated by her actions, rather than her words, that she will get the job done. While Obama regaled us with what seemed to be endless claims of what he will do if put into office, Sarah Palen took the occasion of her speech today to tell us what she has done. No empty promises from this side of the aisle. No claims of things she's supposedly done that cannot be either substantiated, questioned or disproven. This woman has a paper trail behind her that shows she sets goals, identifies objectives, and seeks resolutions.
She's a hunter and fisherman. Word is she hunts moose and even field dressed one or two on her own. You gotta love a woman like that.
She owns her own float plane and has raised four children, with the fifth being recently born with Downs Syndrome. Even though they went through pre-natal testing, she and her husband decided to keep the baby and regard it as a special gift that they were chosen to receive. Please tell me how the dems are going to attack a woman like that and make hay with it?
Lifetime member of the NRA. Pretty cool.
When she took office, her predecessor had bought a jet for the governor to use. Not her. She Ebayed that bastard and made a profit back to the state of Alaska.
Biden was put on as Obama's attack dog. I don't see any easy way for him to attack her in a debate and come off as anyhting but a mean old man attacking a woman many people do and will come to regard as representing the common folk.
Hell, when Ted Stevens got his bridge to nowhere passed, she told the Feds no thanks. THAT's conservative.
And she's been birddogging that rotten corrupt bastard Ted Stevens for a long time. THAT shows character and "gravitas".
When the anti-oil people saw the means to ban oil exploration in Alaska by convincing the candy asses in the USFWS to list the polar bear as threatened despite the fact that polar bear numbers have grown by five times since 1975, and only because of the perceived threat of global climate change, she saw the potential for enviro-whackos to exploit and use the Endangered Species Act against common sense, the American economy, and the ability for Alaska to pursue, explore and recover its valuable natural resources, she took action and filed a huge case against the federal government because it was the right thing to do.
For a woman, she's got some real balls.
Of the four candidates in this race, she may look to have the least amount of on-the-job experience, but look again. She's the only one of the four that has any experience in an Executive capacity. The others are all Senators that have probably never held a real job in the real world in their lives. Moreover, she has just as much experience at the real issues, i.e., foreign relations, than does Obama. At least the GOP is putting the wannabe on deck and putting the seasoned ol' war horse in the batter's box, rather than the other way around.
I just see an ingenious choice on McCain's part and as pretty as she is, she looks to me to be the Democrat Party's worst nightmare. I've listened to a lot of people today, on the radio and in person, and the Republicans amongst us are energized by this addition to the mix.

Excellent choice.
As one reporter pointed out - her formative years were spent in small town AK. whereas the Demo presidential candidate spent his in a terrorists' living room.
The Demo's and our sheeple need to keep a few things in mind:
1.) Bush is not running for president.
2.) People who live in glass houses should not throw stones - it is pretty stupid to argue that our VP choice lacks experience when an even better argument could be made against Osama.
Oh the irony - the candidate for "change" (undefined, though it is) picks a Washington insider for the VP slot AND slams our choice who hails from a spot far from D.C. About as far away as you can get and still be a US resident.
I could go on and on but won't bother. What a slam dunk. I'd bet there were some slobbering drunks in the Demo campaign camp last night. I'm waiting to hear the whining along the lines of how "unfair" this choice is.
And Andy is right - she could have me! A little on the young side, but she'd do....

Hell, maybe her sister's ex is a certified A-hole. If it turns out to be true, and that is the worst thing she has done, I feel even better about her. I have spoke with several Alaska residents and a couple of neighbors that work on teh slope, and they all like her. Of course, I don't really talk to any liberals, so it is not a very good poll base.

I'm very happy with Palin as the VP pick. She has conservative values and beliefs. She is a Life NRA member. What really makes me happy is she is a normal middle class family person. A Mother of five who has gotten her hands dirty while working. How many presidential candidates have we ever had that could make that claim and not be lying. I'm so tired of multimillionaire elitist running for office because they have the money to run, and all they want to do is tax us working/middle class folks so they can redistribute the wealth to the non working.
As far as her experience, she will be fine. She has had two years as Alaskas gov. If elected, her job will be to stay close to McCain so as to be up to speed in case something happens to McAmnesty. In the first year, she will have more experience than anyone currently on any of the tickets. It is called on the job training.

Well, there it is! That smug sob, (remember when he was in Viet Nam) has the answer to that elusive question Neanderthals have been struggling with. The dreaded GLOBAL WARMING, (er, I mean, climate change) is man made, and we need to act now, before it's too late!
Imagine, somebody "actually" doesn't believe that "climate change" is man-made! Throw a net over her!
