Leonard,

I can't access that site, so I don't know which of the issue you're referring to. Probably, it's her choice not to allow conceal and carry of weapons in Kansas. Within the same rally, she and the legislature stripped Kansas sportsmen and women of a huge amount of their rights to access of the state's wildlife resources once again by passing additional legislation that unfairly favors the guiding and outfitting lobby. Maybe, had you waited until this week, you could have included some commentary on how she pushed thru legislation that requires me, and my fellow KS taxpayers, to cover the costs of college tuition for illegal aliens that wish to pursue their degrees in Kansas as a way to "help them get ahead and hopefully get off the welfare and state aid roles". This lady is a raging liberal and is on the short list for Kerry's running mate. She is a disaster and we knew it when she was elected, but the Conservative candidate was such a waste, that he would probably have been at least as bad or worse.

Kansas used to be a state that stood its ground and voted its own conscious regardless of what was happening on either coast. We kept both feet on the ground and down to earth. But, our leguislature is giving all that away now to special interests. I can tell you that there will be a huge spike in attrition from Topeka come the next election cycle.

Sorry, Lance, I didn't know? Yes that's the issue, and I pasted it below for any others that are interested. I'm sure proud of Kansas for the generosity in educating illegals; takes some of the pressure off CA. What the hell is this world coming to? Read on~

Kansas Governor Vetoes Concealed Weapons Bill
By JOHN HANNA, AP

TOPEKA, Kan. (April 16) - Gov. Kathleen Sebelius vetoed a bill Friday to allow Kansans to carry concealed handguns, saying the measure would have made law enforcement officers' jobs more difficult.

The bill would have required the attorney general's office to issue a concealed-carry permit to any Kansan 21 or older who is a U.S. citizen, pays a $150 application fee, has no mental illness or drug or alcohol addiction and completes eight hours of training.

In her veto message, Sebelius, a Democrat elected in 2002, said if the bill had become law, "Police officers, highway patrolmen, sheriffs, and deputies in Kansas would be forced to assume that any person they stop could have a firearm."

"This would make their already dangerous job even more difficult," she said.

Legislators could override Sebelius' veto with two-thirds majorities in both chambers, but the bill passed in the House on a 78-45 vote, leaving supporters six votes short of the number needed to override.

Earlier this week, Rep. L. Candy Ruff, a primary sponsor of the measure, said she did not expect an attempt to override a veto.

The legislation would have prohibited concealed handguns in schools, city halls, courthouses and most state office buildings but would have allowed them in the Statehouse, school parking lots and restaurants that serve alcohol.

Supporters of the bill said its passage would permit Kansans, particularly women, to protect themselves.

In her veto message, Sebelius said she supports Kansans' right to own firearms but does not believe a broad concealed carry law would make Kansans safer.

Thirty-seven states have laws that require officials to issue concealed carry permits to qualified applicants and nine others have laws that give officials some discretion over whether someone gets a permit. Only Kansas, Illinois, Nebraska and Wisconsin lack a law allowing some form of concealed carrying of guns.

For Kansas, it was the second such veto in recent years. Legislators approved a concealed carry bill in 1997, but then-Gov. Bill Graves, a Republican, vetoed it, saying it would result in more accidental shootings.

Weird aint it Leonard?
I used to live in NE, and close to Kansas.
It always boggled my mind, how you can have such pockets of Liberalism in the Heartland.

Kansas was far worse than NE, and NE was bad enough.

BTW. Both Kansas and NE are pro-hunting states. Here again..go figure.

Fast Forward. I say goodbye to the land of cold winters and move to a Top 10 city....and things are run much better here, with more individual freedoms and responsiblities.

[Confused] Isn't that assuption part of their training? Every cop I've ever seen has his hand on his holster when he walks up to a car he has pulled over. And depending on the reason he pulled him over, he may have that gun out of the holster. Pretty weak justification for a veto if you ask me.

NASA, did you expect honesty? Ha Ha. She's afraid of guns, she's stupid and illogical. Therefore: she doesn't want honest citizens to have the means for self defense. The other dipshit believes there would be more accidental shootings. Huh? I should think, for a short period of time; shootings would be intentional? Then the word would hit the streets. Isn't that what has happened in every other state that allows concealed carry? Won't happen here, which is why I may move.

Good hunting. LB

Nah, although I love NM. What seems most likely, at the present time, is Sedona. Maybe just a second house, maybe rent this one, or that one, and live here or there. Got some proceeds that should be reinvested soon, so I'm considering Ajo, Snowflake, maybe Tucson environs? I could even wind up in Napa, or San Diego; who knows? Colorado? Durango or Del Norte look good to me. Raton is nice.....I'm so confused!

Good hunting. LB

Raton is in a really nice (target rich) area. If you get up into CO, give me a holler.
