H3ello back at ya.
Nothing to report other than an MRI on my shoulder last Wednesday. Was thinking about going out this morning with the .41 Mag but we're getting some MUCH NEEDED rain. I've never gotten a coyote with a handgun.
Hopefully I'll be able to shoot my bow again by the end of the year. In the meantime, I'm getting somewhat handy with a .625 Blowgun in my shop. [Cool]

I recently had a MRI on my shoulder after an extended lack of mobility and nearly constant pain. Turns out to be some arthritis and recent aggravation from a building project tossing around 2x6s. A cortisone shot helped a lot, recovered range of motion and relieved pain. Back in my squandered youth aches and pain would would take care of themselves, not so much now. Best of luck with your recovery and return to full draw.

Had the Cortisone shot & phys. therapy. No help.
Arthritis & Tendonitis. Pain free except for the left side lateral raise which is in essence drawing a bow. Follow up with the Dr. in a couple of weeks.

This cortisone shit ….I don’t know what the big whoop is all about? I went to a vast department at Kaiser Fontana where they had a friggin assembly line at least a dozen beds, people waiting for the procedure. Two doctors, one with the needle to insert and a second one behind the screen monitoring the exact placement of the needle It seemed to take a couple hours. I had a short chat with the guy in the next bed that said he does this shit every month. Myself, I actually felt no improvement and never went back.

I’ve had two cortisone injections on my foot. I have 3 disjointed bones in my right foot. Same thing, no noticeable relief. Therefore with this limited involvement, I “almost” think it’s a scam? Or, maybe I’m just one of the few that experiences no discernible improvement in the pain. For that they gave me a type of pain pill called Mexi something? It seems marginally effective, so I take it when I think of it. That’s another problem, I’m not a natural born pill popper. I have a routine to make sure that I get some essential prescriptions and even then, I can’t say any of it actually does some wonderful improvements. I read the results of my blood urine and stool samples and look at the charts. They show ups and downs and “normal” ranges, and sometimes I am within the norms and in some cases, I do not. I’m just going along with the program, trying to be a good boy.

I think I’ve always been in relatively good health, without trying too hard. My blood pressure seems within range, like it might be 125/80 and the numbers bounce up and down and if they are UP, they ask me to stand and do it again…and it almost always gives a better result. I had an angiogram a couple months ago and the doctor said I was clear. What he said to my daughter was that they did a preliminary scan and decided I didn’t even need the procedure, so why I was there, I don’t know? I think, all things considered, I’m in relatively good health; for a man of my age. With the average I’m 83, so I don’t know if I’m bragging or complaining?

Good hunting. El Bee

Something I have been taking since the first of August to help with muscle soreness. Creatine. 3-5 milligrams every morning with my breakfast. It took about 3 weeks for it to kick in, but since then no more aching muscles every morning. I actually feel a little stronger too. I did quite a bit of research prior and saw no downside. Ran it by my doctor at my annual physical last week and she said everyone over the age of 60 should take it. Works for me.

As far as hunting goes, nothing yet, but headed to the Red Desert the end of next week for 3 days.

No I did not. Perhaps that is the reason it took 3 weeks before I felt any results.

Always speaking in code! Loading cycle? I have just barely heard of Creatine, I’ve seen it on the shelves while looking for other stuff. So, ko ko, You sound like you are in the know. Why do you take that stuff and explain, for we clueless, why and why not do a loading whatchamacallit?

Long story less long; Creatine enhances muscle function, among other things real and claimed.
The loading cycle is just that. Loads the muscle tissue and the maintenance doses hold it steady.
Good stuff. The body builders live on it.

The only thing I have killed lately has been my self. Getting old and clumsy.
That creatine sounds like something I should look into myself. Worth a look anyways. Thanks.

I agree, Walt. Never mind that muscle has disappeared and things look a bit saggy. I’ve also been thinking about some type of gym or health club. There is one close to me but it’s kind of pricy. Either that or hire a gardener that speaks english.

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: and yes to the clumsy! Twice yesterday, I damned near fell tripping over a pillow, in one case, and something else, the other time. Don’t remember what it was? But both required superb skill and reflexes to avoid a faceplant. The fear is out the rear slider, it is nine steps down to the pool decking. I had handrails installed only because of an ordnance or inspection, years ago, but now I use it! And, my little hobby of making/fabricating walking sticks has come in very handy, especially on those stairs! I have a second story that I rarely visit because there is nothing up there that I need and I would have to climb stairs to get there. I always caught a lot of flack for using/commandeering the largest room upstairs as my trophy room; words like “selfish” were tossed around. Now, I don’t know why it was important? Whatever, it is what it is.

Tillie! First of all, I took her for a ride to the recycle place. Tied her leash to the seat belt in the back seat, I mean the middle seat. I didn’t want her to get her feet mucked up and then get back in my nice car. So, anyway, on the way home we stopped at THE DOG PARK! I had to give her a time out after she got in quarrels with 4 other dogs. So I held on to her leash. Then I thought she got the message but she got into anther spat with dog #1, again. Then she made me clean up after her dump. That’s it, we are leaving.

So, got home and put her on a long leash on the front yard while I did some pruning. She saw this couple with a large dog on a leash, from a block away. Then, no barking yet, as the 3 of them passed on the opposite side of the street, I had a handful of palm fronds and (this was Deja Vu all over again) she straightened out the cable just as I was stepping over it and not paying enough attention.

The little bitch clotheslined me for the second time! I fell on my face on my driveway with an armful of palm fronds, and not 3 feet from where it happened a couple years ago, maybe 3? Last time I broke 3 bones in my right foot. This time, embarrassed in front of neighbors, the lady came across the street to make sure I was ok. So, I don’t think I scraped any elbows and somehow, did not land on my face. No harm done, except my back hurts. I meant to take a NORCO, but forgot. I will though. Right after I post these important events.

Good hunting. El Bee

Yes, I think she is getting to be a little bitch! Already thinks that she’s the boss of….as far as she can see, either direction. (which is one block east and one block west) Yeah, she thinks she is Neighborhood watch. But the only thing that sets her off is when somebody is walking 1 or 2 dogs. She will scold, until they are out of sight. DEAR ABBY, what can I do?

edit: I scored $15.10 in aluminum cans. Haven’t decided what to do with this windfall, yet?

around here that 15 bucks you scored would buy a 12 pack of Gods liquid gold. That and your Norco should work well together to alleviate any pains.
Wifeynice just got another little poop machine to feed and pick up after, you know, stepping in it. Little puppies are cute BUT. And we live upstairs 13 steps, must be for good luck, I think that will be the death of her or me. Got to get one of those chair lift gadgets before I find out the hard way.
I'm up and down those stairs more than a few times a day and at 75 I look at it as exorcise but the wifes a bit older than me by a bit and not so much for her. Getting old really isn't for sissies I have found out.

A CHAIR LIFT? Now I’ve heard everything!

Well, as predicted, woke up to pitter patter on the roof. Have not seen rain for months. It’s 30 minutes past noon and it’s still coming down steady. Good thing I got all padded chairs under a roof of some kind late yesterday. PS Dodgers won! I let Tillie out to go pee and she stayed under the roof to squirt, she thinks she will melt, if she gets wet!

My back is surprisingly better today. I did not sleep well last night. Turned on a light and read for a while. And damn! I forgot that they sent me a small supply of Ambien, a sleeping pill. Now before, I was told that Kaiser’s policy was to not prescribe sleep aids to anybody over 65. Maybe they relaxed the policy? Anyway, I only take half a pill, usually. Same with the NORCO, rarely take a whole pill. I’m not into drugs, but admit, since getting old, suddenly I take an assortment everyday. It just stopped raining, might be a good time to put out the trash at the curb!

I have a new supplemental prescription drug supplier. They really need to shape up! At least, explain what it is they send me? I suspect its one of those alternate names but I’m not taking it and another thing, some of them don’t list the dosage, you know like 1 a day, or every 4 hours but several do not list dosages. I need to call and find out, it’s bs getting used to a new system and getting on my nerves.

Anyway, I get 25 of the 325NORCO per month. It’s supplemental for what the label says is for “breakout pain” for my back. Because I take morphine every day, but it’s timed release and if I have a more severe pain, that’s what the NORCO is for. This is, in my view, a real plus, rather than fucking back/spinal surgery, of which I have never heard of a cure with surgery, seems like they butcher the first job and spend the next few trying to repair the damage. Therefore, I do have a (what’s it called?) not an injury, but something genetic, like a deformity, I guess I’ve always had “spinal stenosis” of 3 lumbar vertebrae L3,4 &5. Never bothered me until I got to a certain age.

When they describe the surgery, you go in separate the vertebrae and then, with a grinder, they attempt to relieve where the central opening so that there is no sideways contact between the spinal cord and the opening in those 3 vertebrae, where bending and twisting in everyday exercise causes sideways pressure and you never know if the negative sensation will manifest in the lower leg or the sciatic nerve, or someplace different. But, without some clearance along the entire length of the spinal column, you wouldn’t believe the sharp electrifying pain when your spinal column is subjected to the smallest side pressure. I don’t know if this is a fair comparison, but imagine somebody with a pair of vice grips and squeezed one of your eyeballs, or maybe a testicle? It’s that kind of pain, comprende?

Anyway, this will all be on the test so fair warning.

So .......... There's this guy in his Man Cave watching The Game when his wife, who's in her sewing room hollers at him and asks;
"Do you ever get a stabbing pain like a needle going into a Voodoo Doll ?? ".
He says "No, not really".
A minute later she asks;
"HOW ABOUT NOW ???? "

Not killing anything, but just watched a small dog & a medium sized dog run a coyote down the sand wash behind my house. A couple of minutes later the coyote comes strolling back, not a dog in sight.
Gotta wonder how THAT went down. [Eek!]

Need to get out this week-end with the hand cannon and do some calling. Been landscaping a Zen / Rock / cactus garden in my back yard. A lot of work to make something look so simple. [Cool]

too much assumption, amigo. Just a casual encounter, no big deal, or sound of a confrontation. Trust me. I know of these things. Besides, two small dogs versus one raised in the unforgiving environs equals = Mexican Stand Off.
