It is true.I left Nevada.I always thought it would take a small thermonuclear device to move me out of eastern Nevada but I did. Daughter has been looking for a few years to find a place to retire to and the west coast was either too libtard,overpriced for the crap you get and being over run with the California sheeple mentality.
So it was wagons east and the mountains in Tennessee is were we landed.The people are great, prices right,and their political views are good and they love guns. Las Vegas and the Reno areas are just California settlements now over run with illeagles anyways.And it caused the state to become Demacraps. All rural Nevada was crushed to say the least.
The only thing I will have to really get used to is my lack of millions of square miles of open land but because I am, first off, a dedicated coyote wacker I have been given many leads to check out in due time.
The elevation change so far has been beneficial. No more winter and then July and back to winter like it is at 7000 ft where I was situated.Now at 1000 ft elevation I have four,count them,,four, seasons.Something kinda new to me after all those years in the Great Basin.
Hunting will be a lot like Washington State on the west side with lots of under story and brush but I have always called my critters up close and personal anyways.
We will be putting the Fort in Ruth up for sale.Anybody want a big commercial building with storage units a 17 unit RV park with 2 1/2 acres?
We now have a smaller place with plenty of acreage to live in.It is the "Guest House", we refer to it as the Barn, and when the daughter retires in a few years she will have the main house.
All is well and good as it should be for an old fart and his wife.
So after a year or so I should be well established with hopefully some decent places to hunt and be a happy camper again.
I still will miss my miles of open land to go wack coyotes in but the trade off for easier winters is not a bad one for this old fart.
It is a whole new life adventure for me as I have never been east of the Rockies.

Well, there you go. Kinda pulled my pants down, you did. I've been talking about getting the hell out of Dodge for years and haven't done shit about it.
But, Tennessee? Would never occur to me? For sure, anything east of the big river holds zero appeal for me.
For sure, there are suitable places in this country, you just have to weed through them politically and climate wise. Hell, if politics and money weren't a problem, I would sure as hell consider Hawaii. I just absolutely love the islands! And, sure as hell, a 14 foot tiger shark would be looking for me, just my luck, I love to surf! Good thing real estate is too expensive and so is food! I think a gallon of milk is over six bucks, for instance. Can't figure out exactly why that is?
Anyway, good luck. How did you ever find Tennessee? Must have been an accident?

In wandering around on Kawaii, I noticed several wooden boxes on posts that were sign in locations for hunters, mostly wild boar, I think? Other than that, all the game they seem to have is feral chickens. Banty Roosters, and game cocks gone willd. Kinda tame though. It's not a bad place to live, if you can afford it.

Good luck to ya Walt ! I also know a guy who wound up in TN loves it. I can't remember where know ? Has a couple acres of pasture bordered by woods.

Well guess what, koko? Had a perfectly legit email to you kicked back this morning. Have you been fiddling with your levers this morning? I don't know what you're scared of. If you get some virus infected in that antique computer, you would have a good reason to go out and get you one of those slick Apple airs, or an iPad. Then you never have virus worries. Don't cost much more than a half decent gun.
Think about it. The smartest thing I ever did was get rid of that fucking PC and get me a MacBook Pro.

I would have never thought of guys on this site moving east. Well, yea Vic did earlier I suppose. I have lived on both coast at one time or another. I have no plans of ever moving east of the muddy Mississippi. Actually been seriously thinking of moving out west in about 4-5 years.
I'm not wanting anywhere with harsh winters, I get all 4 seasons here about 400 miles east of Ohio. (added that just for you LB)
AZ keeps coming to the top of the list,but was also looking at UT, NV, NM, maybe even ID. Had a lot of fun living in CA back in '82, but things changed some since then.
NVWalt, probably a lot more fishing places available now for you.

I will never leave Utah. My family settled here in the mid 1800's. Never even thought about moving. Still have all my family here. If we could stop the liberal influence from creeping in here it would be perfect.lol

I never thought I would leave also but I did.
My wife has family in Utah that also came there via the handcart treks.Hard life and very dedicated group of people. It isn't so much rural Nevada or Utah or Idaho or any state that isn't over run with California sheeple mindsets.It's those I want everything for free and now, city garbage that has been and still is ruining these great states we call home.The county I lived in has less than 10,000 people, the cities have thousands upon thousands of these idiots. Hard to vote and win.
I was pretty apprehensive about this move but this bible belt country isn't near as off as I thought it would be.Although the wife being Mormon,I am Quaker,There sure is a lack of Mormons here but there sure are tons of Baptists,LOL.And the fishing looks like I'll be a happy camper here.Time will tell and we still have a place in Nevada,not the Fort, that we can fall back on if we decide we can't handle this eastern adventure....Walt

Couldn't ever leave public land, unless I was just ready to quit hunting anyway.
But I could damn sure leave this part of Utah. Would love to get away from this air pollution. I hate it.
If I could make my living there, I'd be gone to Caliente already. Well, I guess I'm forgetting a few things, like Wife and kids. They wouldn't go for that...
I do hope to get at least one or two years living somewhere with clean air before I die though. This spooge we have to breath here is awful.

Damn, Dave. It's always so easy to dictate to others what they should do and I'm just as stupid. Caliente seems like such a unique place to live and raise a family it seems like a no brainer, especially if the polution is as bad as you say it is?
I remember about the railroad, (is it Union Pacific?) that sponsors a huge fireworks display in Caliente for the Fourth of July. It seems so small town friendly, and the town is quaint in a cool way. It's just too bad earning a living has to interfere with something like that.
You know, I just remembered something from like thirty years ago. We were on a trip and had not figured out the gas situation and stations in that part of Nevada are few and far between. So, I'm not sure if there was this only gas station in town, but I think there was only one?
Anyway, we decided not to risk it and just parked right in front of the gas station and decided to wait 'til morning. It was n't very long before the local sheriff pulled up and inquired. We told him that we needed gas and were just waiting until the station opened in the morning.
He said; I can go get the guy to come down and open up, if you guys would take a fill up instead of just enough to get you to civilization where the gas was cheaper? We said "hell yes" and that man was down there in what seemed like ten minutes and we were very grateful, and on our way. As it happened, some other weary traveler pulled up as we were leaving so this guy had more incentive getting out of bed in the middle of the night. We were happy to see it.
So, make no mistake, that event made an impression on me so long ago and Caliente always seemed like a friendly little burg, so quaint it hurts, but also the kind of place you might like to live in, one day. You could wait a million years and never have something like that happen in Southern California.
But, I understand the pull of the civilized world. I could never make a living in rural America, I needed a large metropolitan area. I always envied people that could live anywhere, like an artist, a writer, even a cop, but working in Industry, I couldn't be further away than an hour commute in the morning. So, you people that live on a ranch or a farm in "Flyover Country" are so very fortunate.
I always thought it would be wonderful to spend a month in the summer in some bucolic little hick town in the middle of Kansas. I know so little about what those people do that I'm always wondering what exactly they do to get by, day after day and season after season. Where the big deal is the high school football game, it's so non consequential it's embarrassing but it's important to those people that elected Donald Trump instead of that Bitch, Hillary Clinton, and for that I will be forever grateful.

That was a very great rattle Leonard!! I know I have heard myself say at least a hundred times out loud, "I would definitely live out here if only I could figure out a way to make a living!!"
Have you ever felt that twinge of shame when you're yarnin' with the country folk, that you are really city folk? I hate it when I get the feeling they think I'm a dude.
I have at least learned when to say cows, cattle, bulls, steers, and calves. I once made the mistake of telling a farmer one of his cows was out side of the fence. He got really excited then told me, he had a bull out but there shouldn't be any cows!! I got embarrassed and said something like, "oh yeah, I think maybe the cow I saw was a bull." LOL

We looked all the United States. We looked at Kansas, Missouri,South Dakota,Nevada. Nothing appealed to us. But for some reason Challis did. Boise sucks the big one. Way to many people, Mexican cartel and 98% idiots. Good for you NVWalt for your move.
