1. Does your state allow the shooting of coyotes from a traveled public road way? If not, why (as you understand it).
2. Does your state modify coyote hunting during deer season in any way and, if so, why?

#1) NO. must be 50' from center of roadway.
#2) Yes. You can hunt coyotes without a small game license during big game seasons if you have an unfilled big game license. You can hunt coyotes only in the unit, season, and manner of take as on the big game license. Once you fill your big game license, you must buy a small game or furbearer license to hunt coyotes. Harvesting a coyote does not void your big game license.

#1 No, you must be off the maintained portion of the roadway.
#2 Yes, no night hunting during deer or elk season. Also I believe we must have a .24 or larger caliber during deer or elk.

Just spoke with Q. NE, 1.No, 2. No coyote hunting during deer season, regardless of what gun you're carrying. Loosely enforced, but that's their regulation. If you're in the field with a centerfire rifle, you must have a deer permit.

Must exit vehicle and be entirely off the road's shoulder before loading and shooting. Also, loaded firearms may not be carried IN, or ON ANY motorized vehicle . Leaning a loaded firearm up against a vehicle, is considered "ON" the vehicle, therefore illegal.
2. Yes.
In 'shotgun only' big game WMUs, during ANY open deer season, coyotes can only be hunted/taken with shotgun, or rimfire. Outside of ANY open deer season, those restrictions are limited, and centerfire rifles are permitted to take coyotes on these same 'shotgun only' big game WMUs.
Should add: Coyotes can only be hunted during the open season, which runs from October 1st----March 30th.

CA regs are pretty much like Alaska. The only question is the exact definition of "road" as the Alaska regs attempt to state. We have a lot of two track that you can drive but that doesn't make them a "road" that you can't shoot from or across.

1. No Shooting from the road is considered unsportsmanlike conduct and it's dangerous.
2. Yes Caliber restrictions are put in place during deer and elk seasons unless you have a valid unused deer or elk tag. This applies only to 5 GMU.s in the southernmost part of the state and calibers 224 and under are allowed. In all of the other GMU's all center fire firearms are forbidden for hunting coyotes. The state is afraid that a poacher may use coyote hunting as an excuse to kill a game animal. Pure BS. At one time DFG, unelected people, outlawed carrying center fire rifles unless you had a valid tag during deer season and the remainder of the year. That was overturned by the state supreme court. Even tho other seasons are open for firearms if a LEO finds you in possession of a firearm in your vehicle while you are bow hunting for deer, elk or antelope you will be cited and the firearm will be confiscated.

Lance, yes you can fire at a coyote from a public road here if you have permission on the land the coyote is on. It may be when the vehicle is moving, right out the window, as long as you have permission! If it's running down the road or in the ditch it's all good, no permission needed.
No restrictions during deer season, guns may be loaded, uncased etc. Just like you there the "I was shootin at a coyote" excuse is used a lot!

We can carry loaded firearms in our vehicles, even concealed loaded handguns in the vehicle with out a CCW as long as it is in the vehicle. Outside the Vehicle and you need a CCW to conceal it.
We are not allowed to shoot from a public road. We have to be so many feet off the road. I don't remember how far. On private ground, you can shoot from your vehicle as long as the land owner is OK with you hunting his/her land.
We do have some restrictions such as Rimfire only during deer season unless you have an unused deer tag.

From the SD Hunting and Trapping Handbook:
No one may discharge a firearm, muzzleloader, crossbow or bow and arrow at any big game animal, except turkey to be taken with a shotgun using shot shells or with a bow and arrow, from within the right of way of an improved highway including gravel township roads.

1: Yes Sorta- You can shoot from road if you're within the boundaries of a state hunting area.
2:Yes. Rimfire or shotgun only in southern MI from Nov 15- Nov 30. They use a State Highway (M46) as the dividing line for center fire rifle and shotgun zone.

Iowa No , yes. Unless you are hunting coyotes with many pickups, then shooting from the road is required by law it appears.
In iowa if you have a deer license in possession then you must only have a deer legal firearm in your possesion as i read the reg.
