Hmm? We know Steve, he's been to at least one campout.

"With over 20 years of hunting experience" Don't know about that, but I'm pretty sure he killed his first coyote at the Pechacho Peak Hunt about five years ago. FRIED CHICKEN!

I like his enthusiasm, for one thing. Good guy, deserves his fame a lot more than Byron South, who we also know from the campouts.

Good hunting. El Bee

It doesn't say "coyote hunting experience", just hunting experience. Besides, like me, he hunts four seasons a year. Four times that five years when everyone hunts one season a year and you get twenty seasons worth of experience.

Just funnin'. Steve's a good guy and I wish the best to him with this. Wish I got TSC.

He needs to get with that idiot Ernie on Animal Planet's Turtle Man show and cross market some of that "Live action!" stuff. That's what we say to make fun of ourselves when he hit, or miss, then we laugh like drunken idiots. LOL

Lance is just about the last holdout. Every other celebrity has attended at least one campout, including my new pen pal, Timmy.

What do the grey beards think of Les Johnson?

Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on January 06, 2014, 10:57 AM:

Les is a friend, and as far as I am concerned, the real deal. I first met him at the St Francis Hunt several years ago, which he won. But, of all the big names out there, he can back it up. Also a campout attendee, by the way.

Good hunting. El Bee

Les is the real deal, genuine nice guy. Always welcome here.

i thought he may have pulled a hairy-carrie after the boot.

I agree. Les is a good guy. He's hunted our hunt a couple times. Last time, he and Jeff didn't place in the money, but they did come in for check-in and congratulate the teams that came in ahead of them. It was good to see someone at his level able and willing to not get all wrapped up in their ego.

As to the hunt, it's on my bucket list. You've always held it when the guys with seniority over me have been gone hunting out of state and I couldn't get the time off. I'm slowly working my way up that ladder and may someday be able to actually show up if you schedule it a year ahead of time so I can put in for those dates. Oops, that was the other conflict. All my 2014 vacation was bid in November of '13.

Cool. Seems like a stand up guy from his TV show. He sure loves to hunt.

What a job to be able to drive across the country with your brother and call coyotes all day!

Is the camp out an invite only?

Everybody's invited.

Les Johnson is the real deal!

I think Steve Criner is a first class guy! His new show is fabulously filmed and edited and Steve is good in front of the camera.

It is impossible for most to even slightly comprehend how hard it is to get, and then keep the sponsors required to keep “the wheels on the wagon” and make a TV show work. The work and worry required to pull it off for several years makes my head hurt to even think about it.

I think the world of both of them and wish them only continued success.

Warmest regards guys,

Big Mark

I have a photo somewhere of Steve Criner, (aka "Unknown") of him proudly holding a coyote tail, the only part he managed to hit, at the HM campout. And yeah, he was happy and laughing about it, as usual.

Hi Mark,

So, your shooting out of Vail, huh?

I was hunting in your neck of the woods recently..

Thank you Leonard!

I need to change some of my info. My wife and son Wyatt moved back to our Midwest roots a few years back and we are in Middlebury, IN now. We had a terrific run of almost 15 years in Arizona and it will always be a special place.

I miss the wide open spaces of the west but love the coon hunting and trapping back in this part of the world. I was raised in Ohio around beef cattle and hunting and fishing and following a hound or two and wanted to give my boy a dose of that.

We did not want to raise our son on the border and the school system in AZ ranks as one of the lowest in the country. We looked at some private schools but it was going to be about $10K a year....for kindergarden!

I still do some writing over on my site at www.markzepp.com - Hope I can post that and send them over there Leonard and not upset you.

Life is wonderful and always full of twists and turns....still calling a few coyotes and dreaming of that next big adventure!

Good Hunting and Happy New Year Guys!

Big Mark

Good to know your current stuff, Mark. I had no idea?

As far as your link, you just found the most liberal message board on the 'net. I allow everything but links to your porno site.

And, by the way, those calls you sent me are great, I like them all, especially the white plastic one. I use it all the time.

Good hunting. El Bee

You know one thing I got to give Steve is that he doesn't live in a coyote rich environment and because of his sponsor's he uses a lot of gear I wouldn't be caught dead with. However, he still manages to stack up a pretty fair amount of coyotes.

If he is still here in Southern Missouri, you got that right. Lots of private ground, and the public ground is pretty pressured. We have deer season, one type or other from Sept to Jan. So they aren't too happy when we are out calling with them only 50-100 yards away. [Smile]

Callin in MO sucks a$$ but somebody has to do it!!

Hi ya guys. You know what. I've shot coyotes here coming to the call since I was 16, I'm 34 now, and I actually started when I was 14. Yah took two years to call one in damn it, lol. I still love it like the first day I started. That's why I like ownin my own show. I can be me. No lessons, no boring crap, just a story to tell. I never claim to be anybody I'm not. I just mange to kill coyotes and do it on film.

Drop in, watch the show. Some will hate it, some will love it. That's how life works ain't it.

Leonard, I look at that pic all the time. Wished life was as simple now is it was back then. I would still be happy about it now though.

Watched in on DVR last night, thought it was pretty good!
Give that young man another pat on the back when ya see him, he's got a good head on his shoulders for a 12yr old!

Steve,

Was the campout that you attend the one at Paul's place?

If I remember right, weren't you part of the posse? Shaw, Gordie, TA, and yourself?

Just kidding you about the posse, I think I remember some friction amongst some of the guys that week. [Smile]

I am trying to watch your show, but I keep forgetting that the time listed is eastern, not central, so I am an hour off.

Anyways, best of luck to you on your TV show. Maybe you'll become the next Jackie Bushman of MO. You just have to push Byron and Fred out of their slots. [Big Grin]

I'm sure at least one time it was Pechacho Peak. And, I never spell it right. Good word though, that was the POSSE, including Geordie and PB Man, kind of a separate click, not around the campfire.

Good hunting. El Bee
