Shot a 29 pound bobcat with my 25 caliber air rifle last month.
Been thinking about a comment made to me ever since.
The comment was…

“If you shoot them in the left temple they don’t flop around because that’s the side their motor skills are on.”

Never heard that before but it makes sense I suppose.
Anyone ever hear that?

I usually let the fur prime up before I leave 'em lay.

Seems logical, if it's true? But, in any case that's a real nice cat for AZ. If that's a female, it's a big cat no matter where you got it.

Nice cat, good job Jay! Nice rifle too. You still look like an old coyote though.

Hey! That's my dove hunting outfit. Ain't it pretty?
It was over 100 degrees.
I went out to sit on a stool and shoot a few dove and before I got there I instinctively stopped and said that this is a perfect place to shoot a dumb coyote.
All I had was 8 shot and a BB gun.
Since I never had a chance to use the BB gun in AZ until recently I decided to give it a whirl.
Instead of a dumb coyote, I got a cat.
Never made it to the dove hunting spot.

You bleach your socks, huh?

That's a nice cat. With that caliber, its always best to shoot the head.

Even if the fur is not prime, you might still get a couple of hundred if you sold in a fur sale.. fur prices were really good last year!

Even my brother was giving me hell for my socks.
I'm sure the hide is blue but HEY! I'm not a fur keeper. It's in the freezer tho and I'm waiting till the end of the year when the furs are prime.

Uncle Jay

See, that's the problem! I don't care if I have a damned fishing pole or a metal detector...the first thing I think about is hunting predators. At this point, I think it's incurable?

Sounds pretty much like what I would do also. So did you hit that cat in left side of it's temple? Did it still flop around?

He's a clever fellow, won't let us see enough skyline. The only thing I can say, for sure is; he's a lefty! And, a displaced Okie, that wears socks, yet!

Shot went up the right nostril.
He just sat back on his haunches and growled teetering back and forth.
Then another thru the right temple.

That's when the "Did you know conversation" started.

Amazing! And, on the run! Due, no doubt, in large part to your lucky socks.

Jay's scope must be out of whack. I know that he usually shoots em in pupil of the eye, but the pellet hit that cat in the nose.

Yeah, he likes the "no damage" approach, when he leave's 'em lay. Takes all kinds.

The good news is; he's as handsome as ever.
