What's the deal on Shockwave? Should I donate my CS24L to the Goodwill?
I know a few people have got their hands on a Shockwave...right, Cal?
Variable pitch, two sounds, bounce between speakers? All of this stuff is effective, must have?
Come on, don't sugar coat it, do we need one?
PS Does it come with a pack mule, and anti-squeak zert fittings?

I don't have a Shockwave, but I can tell you this - I would have gotten better use out of taking 4 $100 bills and wiping my ass with them, and then flushing them down the toilet, over purchasing the Mojo Double "Trouble".

When people ask ME about the Shockwave I tell them that it is probably a good call, but there is no way that it could hold a candle to a CS-24.

El Bee; Someone has to be the one to tell you this; The CS24L was an ok caller `back in it's day`. It is now totally retro and somewhat embarrassing that the owner of an inter-net board would be seen with one in the light of day. I want to help............Tell ya what I'll do; There's a Goodwill near me. Drop the caller off at my place & have a root-beer on your way home from El Paso. I'll see that it goes to a good home. I'll even loan you a JS512 to hold you over 'til you get up to speed with the latest technology. (Now, THAT was a caller!!!) ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

The shockwave is a nice machine. But for me personally I will stick with the CS 24 for most of my calling.

Eamned decent of ya koko. But, since I just read what Cal had to say, if my Chicken Shit 24 is good enough for him, it might be good enough for me, as well?

I remember Scott Hampton was in the market for a new Foxpro and ended up not getting the Shock wave and picked some other FoxPro model (maybe CS24)..
Its got a lot fancy knobs though.. [ April 12, 2013, 09:06 PM: Message edited by: Fur-n-dirt ]

Welcome to The New HuntmasterBBS.com, Fur-n-dirt. Glad to have you on board.
Umm? Your post is a little confusing? The CS24 has zero knobs, just one miniature toggle switch.

The root-beer offer's still good, even if you do insist on sticking with a caller that would be right at home in an Amish buggy. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

I feel inadequate, and maybe stupid? I don't know who Scott Hampton is? He's obviously somebody important?
koko, mighty tempting. How long will your generous offer remain in effect?

LB, the Shock Wave has fancy knobs. SHampton is one of the guy's that surfaced here during the TT dog debacle.

Mine is new so hesitate to say much except so far it's performed perfectly. Volume?Bear said he was listening to me 2 miles away in NoDak. Sound quality?Best I've ever heard but, hey, that's subjective as hell. Portability?I'm a backpack guy and it's a HELLUVA lot better than carrying that speaker for me.On the other hand it's not light and not near as convenient as the Fury. Speaking of speaker(s),is the fold out, directional thing a gimmick? Not sure but starting to think it isn't and has some value.I have read some don't like how the 'fold outs' connect but zero problem for me so far. Remote? Now there is a unit worth buying the package for.BEST ever.See it,feel it,work it with gloves on,DAMN good.Range is more than enough and as good as any I've seen except homemade ones.A TON better than the WT!(I just got a 'homie' that is unbelievable on that score.:-)) Misc features?Lots. Some very nice and I'll use them. Some I'll never figure out or use but...??? Bottom line?No regrets at all and still learning it. LB,good unit but I'd wait and see til the 'new' year arrives. They likely will offer that remote with a Fury type, then portability would make a decision really tough. My 2(deflated)cents. I have a Shockwave, but, didn't use it much this year. Just kept falling back on the old CS24.
Will try and give it a better workout next year.
But, like Cal said, it looks like a helluva unit, but the CS24 just suits me a bit better I think.

I don't have the Shockwave but I have seen them and they do look like a nice caller, but I just don't see it being a better unit than my CS-24.

A note to Cal.Cal I think that remote is near perfect but if you have any pull, consider suggesting to them that they should consider making the 'mute' button larger. If it was the size of the 'play' or 'back' buttons,I couldn't imagine a better design. And,this morning I think the fog saved a 'barker' that came a longgggg way to your sounds.I was downwind about 100-120 yds from the Shockwave and could see close to 200 beyond that but he still got downwind of me in the fog.(and I had backed off a fenceline 40 yds thinking he(they)wouldn't go beyond downwind of the sound but not far enuf. He(it)crossed the fence and went further.Had Bear been with=all over as he is usually 300 or more downwind.Oh well, another day.
PS Note to self. After a winter storm, even in mid April, leave the snowshoes in truck. [ April 13, 2013, 08:27 AM: Message edited by: DiYi ]

I have both a CS24B and a Shockwave. I'm still partial to my CS at this point, but I haven't used the Shockwave enough to do it justice yet. I will say this though. If FP could offer the CS24B with the remote from the Shockwave they would really have something. As DiYi stated the Shockwave remote is really well designed. In fact it's the most user-friendly remote I've ever come across of any e-caller out there. There was definitely some thought that went into the design of that remote. As for all those bells and whistles on the Shockwave, I guess time will tell if they are worth having or not.

I was reading all of the specs.on Foxpro website concerning the new Shockwave. They do not advertise the Shockwave as having the signal hopping technology like CS-24 and the Fury have. If the Shockwave lacks the signal hopping technology, it seems likely that the remote control requires direct line of sight to the caller just like the older models such as FX-5. I will call them Monday and ask about that.

Rich, Don't know a thing about signal hopping tech but I was putting my truck away(ANOTHER blizzard/storm coming tonight)so decided I'd check line of sight.Put the call on the ground by my truck shed and walked to the other side of my big metal machine shed.I was approx 85 yds from the call, with the metal machine shed between me and the call, hit 'Lucky Bird' and, voila, away it went. Then ran through a series of other sounds, volume changes etc and it worked every time.Don't know if that proves anything but that's the result.

LB didn't have the pinkies on-they've been missing since my last trip with Bear. Do tight nylons count though? Ran a couple other 'tests' however. Put my house, few trees and the metal shed between me and call with the distance being maybe 110-120 yds. It turned on only once out of a number of tries. Again, no idea what, if anything, I proved.
