I'm late to the party as usual. But I'm glad another post was started on this topic because I want to clear the air on one thing that was said in the locked thread. Leonard said:
"I think Joel Hughes taught and showed him everything he knows and then he became an instant expert."
This is not true, but I can see where Leonard may have thought it since I have been vocal from day one of TT's outing. I have never even met him in person. I taught him nothing. In fact, I never would claim to have taught anyone anything about hunting besides my kids. So I need to come out and say that anything TT claims did not come from me. My history with him is that I rec'd a free call from him back before he was an internet hero. That call I liked and used and took pics with kills using it. Like an idiot newby, I did that. Then the yankee came down to TX and killed his first cat with a friend of mine, and goes back home and falls thru some ice and decides to become the world famous expert that he claims to be. I don't know jack chit about dogs or parvo and could care less about that part of any of it. But I know TT is full of himself, had zero experience when he started his promotion, and gives credit to no one. That is why I do not like him and never have since that day. That is all.
Posted by Chris S (Member # 3888) on April 01, 2013, 08:54 AM:
Five more pages! That's a tall order.
I don't know TT personally, so, like some others, my distaste comes from his Internet persona. It's become clear that his off screen antics are quite the same, if not worse, than his Internet presence, according to testimonials given here... and there.

I'm sorry about closing that topic but it got so sidetracked with the MFK clowns that I thought it was better to drive a stake through the heart.
But, I don't want to see Kelly lose anything, much less a bottle of AJ so we can officially call this a continuation and if it goes 20 pages, kelly wins. If it don't, well, at leasy we tried.
Joel, sorry for the misinformation. I obviously got something mixed up in my mind. I know that you called him out for using a/your hero shot on his web page as his own? Or, I think I know?
Good hunting. El Bee

R. Shaw posted some great stuff when TT first started PU. This is TT's response. lol. And you wonder why he "called" in those huge numbers. Joel Hughes gets in some good ones too... He said he called in 322. Shaw asked him why in the hell he was moving...
R.Shaw:Maybe the tears blurred my vision, but did you say 322 coyotes last season? If so, why in the world are you moving to TX? Randy
TT:Randy, Yes...322. Anyone who's called with me knows that I'm a predator "caller"....others can shoot them. I keep track of how many we call up, as I usually call and run the camera. Calling them up is where I get my 'high'. I'd say about 1/3 to 1/2 were shot...and only a dozen or so were skinned. Only 13 were from Iowa. Thanks...Tony
Joel H:R.Shaw, I've heard even if he sees a glimmer of eyes, that's a count of 1. Could be a cow. Doesn't matter if it's taken or called in, or spotted a mile off. But, yea, that's still a lot of coyotes "seen". Bunch of BS. Just like going to a state with 99% private land and paying landowners; educating paying students while educating predators; while touting all this experience (ie: cat cherry was popped last year?). That's not jealousy, fellas. That's, admittedly, frustration. An idea like this is hurting himself, us and his/our kids. Jump on me and the leg-humping band-wagon all you want boys, this texan can't keep his mouth shut any longer. I don't expect folks who don't have to ask for hunting permission to understand. Actaully, I don't expect anyone to understand. We all have our opinions on a subject like this, and this is mine. For what it's worth, it's not the man I have a problem with; it's the situation. I'm sure Tony is a great guy, and one of his cow tips hangs from my lanyard. edit >>> to remove reference to another board

Down memory lane, again. John Macelwane, forget how he spells his name right now was/is the chairman of North American Hunter and they owned the original board, which was built by Frank Heartlein. Danny Batistini moderated the predator forum for a while but lost interest and I was asked to take it over. Then John offered me the Board and he intended to start a new one, strictly for corporate business. When he created the newer board, it was just a shell and I did all the specifics but he had penciled in his name to get it started, and we did the FHP thing and I logged in as member #2. He is totally out of the loop, but one of the peculiarities of this very obsolete program is that you can't change or edit a membership so I can't make myself "numero uno" if I felt the need. Which I don't. But, I am, of course the head motherfucker in charge.
But, that was the second edition, which had a lot of serious problems. Me and my son-in-law did this "NEW" HuntmastersBBS, which is the third edition and is why it is called the New Huntmasters. Everybody had to reregister, and we did lose some people over it, and we lost some great archives but it was felt that to transfer the membership rolls might introduce the bugs that we were trying to get away from, so this edition was started with a clean sheet of paper.
As you can see at the bottom, this one, HM3.0 goes back to 2002, but the first two were completely different in look and format. 2nd edition was some time in late 2000 or early 2001?
Thanks for asking. LB

Speaking of Danny Batistini, I read a historical blog awhile back that was on some forum, but I don't remember which one. I believe he made mention of some of you guys on this site? It was a really cool "old school" recollection of his hunting and club activities. Sounds like he was one helluva great guy.

Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on April 01, 2013, 07:27 PM:
The Internet was probably Danny's medium?
He was the state rep for the High Desert Chapter at State Board meetings.
So, I'm thinking back.
I don't remember him ever contributing in the discussions? He always picked a table in the back corner of the room. He was also the only one I ever saw sipping a bottle of beer during the meetings. Anybody that knew him also knew that he liked his beer. Him and Frank used to sit in a bar after work, I think they called it the office?
But anyway, he just didn't have anything to say during the meetings, and seldom stayed to BS in the parking lot after the meeting was adjourned. So, he spun his entertaining yarns via the keyboard. Nothing wrong with that. But don't forget, I knew him, nobody goes back as far as I do, he was a year behind me in school, class of 1961. We had many mutual friends from the old neighborhood.
He actually was a gentle soul, very mellow. He told me a few years ago that he was always a little afraid of me, for some reason? Believe it or not, I was kind of a hell raiser back then. How funny.
Good hunting. El Bee

I remember when I first came on scene this was still part of the "Hunt for Land" board.
Smithers,
After the lion deal, where Red deservedly got torn up pretty good, he was pretty much done here.

I doubt we'll see much of him, around here.

Leonard,
Remember a few years before Danny passed away he went on kind of a western states odyssey looking for a new place to live. Anyhow, he ended up not far from my part of the world and was in the process of buying a bar in a waaaay out of the way logging town. Not long after they pulled stakes and headed to NM.
When Danny and Charlene were in the area, I talked with him on the phone a couple times and he mentioned that he was scared of you in high school and called you a "tough dude" in a respectful manner.
He did come across as real mellow sort and not really the type of guy who was known as an accomplished predator hunter. He was really surprised that coyotes in this part of the world run when a vehicle starts to slow down. And seeing eagles was really impressive to him.

Question;............(Bear with me, this gets complicated but I think that the math would work.)
My county has xxxx number of square miles.
The freeway takes up x percent of that acreage.
Scientific studies have determined coyote densities by county.
So, (here's the fun part) If I figure out what percentage of the county is freeway and divide the number of coyotes by that amount, I think that I would know how many coyotes are on or near the freeway.
Therefore; When I drive down the freeway on my way to hunt, I should be able to assume that at least half of those coyotes raise their heads as my truck goes by.
Ergo, it follows that I have interacted with XXXX number of coyotes just by driving down the highway listening to a Little Walter blues tape.
Yes????
Posted by Chris S (Member # 3888) on April 06, 2013, 10:45 AM:
Koko, did you see their eyes? Eyes count, not just ears or the backs of heads. They have to look toward you to count as called in, even if they don't make any effort to approach, you tooted on a call, they looked, that's one called coyote!
Posted by TA17Rem (Member # 794) on April 06, 2013, 11:36 AM:

Smithers,
I do this strictly for the love of the sport, but your offer of $1500 seems a little low.
Once my number of `called` coyotes is up around a couple of thousand I'll be opening a combination study course and on-line store. Should be about the middle of next month.
Posted by KaBloomR (Member # 4252) on April 07, 2013, 09:53 AM:

Kabloom, a pup should fit inside one of those USPS flat rate boxes. I'm sure he can ship it to you in one of those. It'll save you from having to drive to pick it up and call 30 times and have him not answer the door.
Koko, next month? Go to the store more often and you'll have your extra thousand by next week. Also, I said, $1500 and not a penny LESS. There is no ceiling when it comes to legendary knowledge, so, you name the price, I'll write the check.
I'll take one of the chihuahua and bull mastiff crosses. Extra parvo, please.

You need some sponors however. My suggestion would be to call the following.
1)Aunt Jemima Syrup
2)Spam
3)Miller-Lite
I feel like, I'm forgetting something ?
Posted by Kokopelli (Member # 633) on April 08, 2013, 03:36 AM:
I haven't decided on a name for my institute of learning yet, but I have come up with a slogan;
`A fool and his money will soon be my client`.
As far as sponsors, I don't actually use any of those products but if they want to get on board;
"I was having a tough morning calling but my luck changed for the better after a lunch of Spam fried in Miller Lite and seasoned with Aunt Jemima syrup."
No parvo-puppies, I'm afraid. Took Kay-Nine to the vet & had her fixed.........and was informed that she's not a pit bull like my idiot neighbor told me, but an American Bulldog. (The next time that I take somebody's dog away from them, I'm going to ask that they at least know what kind of dog it is.)

A chicken does have breasts but no nipples. In my opinion, it takes a nipple to complete a tit.
The platypus is not of this Earth. They're some kind of alien experiment. But, that is interesting info that I'll have to include the next time I think I'm being Einstein.
Did you know that if an animal lays eggs, it has no nipples, except for the platypus, which lays eggs. The eggs incubate for 28 days and after they hatch the mother pulls out her alien experiment breasts and feeds the alien babies.

Kelly, I started to call you today. I had to kill an hour across from Haliburton there in Duncan and figured you might might be in country and buy me lunch.
As it was Murf's cost me some more money, picked up a Burris Fastfire II for a Buckmark pistol. Didn't need to eat anyway.

Dang Tom, you should have called. I had a B-Q sandwich and some baked beans. Was pretty good.
