Tim, I know you call coons so I thought I'd share how we do it with the diaphragm calls. Not a bad way to pass the time when the coyotes are coming in...

Pretty good vid. on coon calling. Could cut back a little on the commercials. [Wink]

Do what you like but IMO you could put a little more excitement in the calling, really gets them moveing..
From what I have seen if you find one coon there willbe others close by and usually the sow and yoy, the boar tends to stay away from the group a few 100 yds depending on what there is for tree's.
Yep your right most of the coon that come in are males or a 5-6 to 1 ratio..
The sow must run the young females off sometime in the fall to establish there own family..
High pitched birdy sounds work well on the timid or younger coon...

I agree with Tim (and I hate it when I have to do that), a little too much commercial time.

I do like seeing you guys hunting country like I'm in, which in a lot of ways is similar to back home.

The coon sound is interesting, I have gotten the blue jay (eastern) sound y'all were making down fairly well with an open reed, the coon sound is gonna be harder though.

I actually have no problem with somebody pimping their calls if they take the "This is what I offer, thanks for looking" approach. It's the ones that start shouting "My shit don't stink, everybody else's stuff is crap" that irks me.
Posting a product on this board can be a double edged sword; If it's something that is worth adding to the gear list it will be recommended and we all benefit. However.......if it's not as advertised, somebody can expect to get chewed on around the edges a bit.
Pimp on!!!!

The official policy is that anybody can advertise what they make and have for sale. I do not have a problem with it. This is very much different from a place like PM where they have paid advertisers and nobody else is allowed to post their product or post anything negative about the paid advertiser. This is a type of whore-ing that I can't stand, and it is why there has never been sponsors on Huntmasters, and why there never will. Anybody is free to say whatever the hell they want to say about any product or service. This is a freedom of speech site, and I pay for it, for about eleven years running.

Well I think that any time a call maker goes to the point of saying "you need the calls I make" in order to be successful, they've gone too far. [Wink]

I've always said, and I probably always will, that the sound you make and the call you make it with has very little to do with the ultimate success or failure of a stand (or a hunter).

Krusty

P.S. It's obvious from the videos... these guys aren't pimpin' camo clothing, are they.

Actually, I never tried to sell anything to anyone on here and never will. All I've done is posted some video's I edited that I thought had some pretty cool hunts on them. I know I hardly ever see any other videos out there with guys calling in critters with diaphragms, and thought you guys might be interested in watching. Like I told ya tim, yeah, we have our website on their and show you what calls we are using on each hunt but it's far from pimpin'. I personally think a video would suck if you didn't say what you called it in with. Again, not pimping, just sharing some videos. I've always been a believer in the saying, "a pic or (video) is worth a thousand words!" I'd rather just show someone how I do something than type three pages full of shit trying to explain it.

Look, this comment is neither positive or negative pertaining to your posting videos. Do you really think the viewer sees exactly what's going on and learns everything he needs to know watching any hunting video, versus the three pages of commentary? The video is reality?

Truthfully, I have nothing against you or anybody else posting your videos because some people would see benefit. Myself, I don't click on them and don't watch them.

I used diaphragms, (quite literally) before you guys were born. You ain't showing me nothing I haven't seen before. And, there are open reed, closed reed and diaphragms and dozens of each type and it's an individual choice like buying a pair of shoes that fit. Everybody has one they like.

Good hunting. El Bee

Jason,

I apologize... I was just following Tim's lead (yeah, probably a huge mistake), and having a lil fun at Torry's expense (not yours).

I've watched all the videos y'all have posted, and have enjoyed them, very much. [Smile]

We know you're not putting the hard sell on us, here or in the videos... BUT, to be 100% honest, it seems like Torry does, okay. [Wink]

Like Leonard says, he and others have been advocating the use of diaphragm calls for a lot longer than you guys have been around these boards... nothing new there.
But, not everyone can use them. Some have a high gag response, some (like me) can't fit the standard sized frame in their mouth.

So perhaps, when editing future videos, you'll take our opinions to heart and tone Torry's hard sell down a notch or two?
Either way, I'll keep watchin' your videos. [Smile]

Same here I have no problems with you posting vid.s, its nice to see other areas and get a rough idea of how you do it. Keep the high fives (end zone dance) and comercials. to a min. and I'll watch them..

I've watched a few of Fred E. shows, complete turn off..
