I don't crow much here for obvious reasons, but this was a damn proud moment. Maybe this will give us something to talk about for a couple seconds besides the sad state of affairs we're living in.

COOLEST STAND EVER!!!!! And there have been a few. First one came blowing in and looked like it was going to blow right through the stand. I barked at it and Bella had started out. It looked back over its shoulder, saw her headed its way and stopped. I dumped it. She continued on out and did what she does best and got to woolin'. About the time I got another round jacked in, number 2 showed up also at warp speed but with a different intent. He held up for a couple seconds about 30 yards from Bella and number 1. I fought off the urge to let the air out him right then. Convinced myself that I'm never gonna see anything cool if I don't let it happen. It was worth the wait! He ran on up to Bella and she stared him down, then went right back to chewing on the first on. Number 2 pranced around them a little, bowed up, vocalized a little, and got real close a couple of times. Bella just stood her ground and never gave up her prize. Then number 2 got even closer, close enough to make contact if he wanted to. Bella just kept on woolin'. Then I swear it looked like he slipped in next to her and took a couple bites himself. I was wishing for a video camera like never before. I finally whistled her off and when she came to me, he followed. Came to about 25 yards and just stood there looking at us. Bang. If Bella knew how many times I painted her with my crosshairs during, she'd probably bite me. I don't understand why he didn't try to bite her. I knew for sure I was gonna see a fight. Was just hoping she held her own. Both males. I figured the first one was number 2's girlfriend from the size difference until I looked.

Thats the last thing you want to see on a stand with a dog, unless you don't like the dog...
You did right by dumping the coyotes when you did..

That's a great story, Jimbo. Now, what was the obvious reasons, again?

Simple....most here have seen plenty of dead coyotes and pictures thereof. This was an event for me and the dog.

If fired in a gun with out it the barrel will bulge or even worse split wide open..

Okay, got ya. I resist it for the same reasons but every once in a while, they start thinking I'm a keyboard commando so with great reluctance, I post a hero shot.

I liked your story. I was thinking though. Maybe the second coyote refrained from mixing it up because of "professional courtesy" like the way most males won't fight a female? You know, males fight with other males and females with other females but usually, a female can get away with quite a lot, whereas the male dog/coyote is trying to be a gentleman? Maybe?

Good hunting. Lima Bravo

I don't have enough time with the dog to even form a hypothesis as to why things went the way they did. My dog clearly made serious eye contact but I never saw her hackles raise and she never assumed any kind of defensive posture. I suppose they were communicating on a canine level that I don't understand. The coyote got behind her and could have easily bit her and ran if he wanted to. All I know is that all the things you hear about calling with a dog are coming true. You won't ever see this kinda shit any other way.

Thanks Jeff. I know you can relate.

Patterson, I'm hooking up with a friend who has the equipment and talent to use it pretty soon. If he is able to get any decent video, I'll be sure to post it.

Jim, there is nothing like it. I enjoy listen to you telling how Bella is coming along. Now all you need is a camera. Its a pain in the butt but you will cherish the memories when it finally comes together.
