took the week off to hunt, forgetting that this is, hands down, the shittiest time of the year to hunt because the coyotes just don't wanna play well from being harassed by every Tom, Dick and Harry with a gun shooting at them. Top that off with snow, an inch of rain and gumbo mud that won't dry even a little bit and, well, it sucks. But today was a highlight.
I've got a small area of sandy hills with dense cover and I hit a spot I haven't called for a year or two. Up close, shotgun type stuff. I walked quite a ways in because from sitting position, visibility was maybe ten feet, tops. Found an open alleyway with thick cedars on one side and head high grass on the other. Got comfy against a burnt cedar snag and put the caller about twenty feet in front of me. Hit the go button and in less than a minute, what is easily the most beautiful bobcat I've ever called stepped into view and promptly took a load of 3-inch #4 buck. I got up to survey the damage and can honestly say that when I got a better look at it lying there, I uttered, out loud, "Holy shit!" Made my day.
I've seen very few cats with this grade of spots in Kansas.You can't see the rosettes down her side and onto her hips, and she has three almost solid black lines down her back. A buddy of mine looked at this one and another we got this past weekend and is saying we should score $150-200 each.

He is not liking to be called, "FLUFFY"!
I don't know? When it comes to grading cats, the colorful ones don't seem to impress the buyers, possibly because there are few to match them with? That's why I think the like those northern Nevada lynxcats, uniformity, seem to get top dollar?
