In a bizarre and twisted coincidence to the members of The New Huntmasters, the interweb's most elite and anti-law enforcement discussion board, New Orleans officials are tasking their local TWAT, er,... SWAT Team with the mission of eradicating rogue wily coyoteeees that are venturing too close to the Big Easy for local's comfort.

http://www.grandviewoutdoors.com/predator-hunting/articlecontent/7/2011/2565/new-orleans-deploys-swat-teams-to-shoot-coyotes

Officials feel these actions will make the community safer in at least two different ways. First, by removing marauding coyotes before they come to the realization that native New Orleans are a tasty Cajun treat, and second, it gives local SWAT Team members something else to take their unbridled aggression out on other than randomly shooting innocent civilians. More to follow as information becomes available.

Lance,
Was listening to talk radio Sunday evening and a caller mentioned this on Tom Grisham's show...they were saying that SWAT was saying how an FMJ was really ineffective on the LA coyoteees and they were thinking of switching to more of a 'varmint' bullet...imagine that!

That is crazy stuff! [Big Grin]

They are even planning to use cougar sounds to scare off the coyotes... duh, what about the cougars!!!? That could get really crazy! [Eek!]

"The best way to prevent the encroachment of coyotes is to take away their food sources by securing trash cans and keeping pets inside,'' Dorson said.

What about all the squirrels and rabbits and mice and other small urban critters they love to eat? Then there's all the dead fish and snakes and... [Razz]

Let me write that down, before I forget....FMJ isn't very effective on coyotes. Do I have that right? I learned something today; and from TWAT, imagine that?

forgive me Lord and be with those starving pigmies.

I'm guessing that it must be an unusual event in Nahlins. They have professional snipers on the payroll here for that type of thing who get to employ cool weapons and tactics to keep invasive coyoteeeees in check. Man, would I love to score that gig to bring me out of retirement.

I can just picture myself dressed in all black creeping around the golf courses and green belts in the middle of the night with a surpressed rifle in a bitchin' drag bag. Carl Spackler would have NOTHING on me.

And that's all she wrote.

Tell ya what... If I had to walk around at night in New Orleans, a damn coyote would be the least of my worries. I have yet to see a coyote rob a liquer store, mug an old lady, or do a drive by shooting.
