So its time to step up and post.

I shot this bull back in early September which then allowed some Oct. early calling.

 -

So it started with this double.

 -

Followed by this nice male.

 -

Then a YOY with my AR.

 -

Worked this female for 30 minutes to get her down.

 -

Elk back strap for dinner

 -

Then another YOY.

 -

Another AR

It looks like a M77 to me. He has the same plug in shooting sticks I'm using on my Model 700LVSF.

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Good hunting. LB

Thanks guys.

The Ruger is an old M77, think I picked that one up in the early to mid 80's. It is a 22-250, and of all my coyote rifles, it would be the go to. The other bolt is a Remington 204.

I drank the Kool aid a while back and jumped in on the AR thing. I can't say I love it. I grew up shooting bolts, and they feel the best. Hell I still have to pay attention where the damn saftey is on it. I take it along just because.

Yo Krusty! I while back, couple years I think, I was able to beg a call from Krusty. He has kind enough to send me one, no charge. Much appreaciated, and has been used a bunch. Very unique sound and when I am calling areas I know have pressure it is my go to. It is one of my favorites.

Tom, its been a while! The calls are turned from some Mountain Mahogany I cut about a year and a half ago. It comes from an area I hunt, and is some what special to me. Except for a few customs I have picked up, I mainly used my culls, screwed up finishes and such. I finally decided to turn up a nice set for myself.

Thanks all for the welcome, I am guilty as a lurker, but the info I have gathered from the site as been useful and at times entertaining! I have never got in the middle of battles between forums and have no intention to do so. I like to hunt coyotes and hang with other coyote hunters. Simple as that.

Some of the threads on this site, especially on coyote behavior I have read and re read,,, great info. Also intresting is some of the ecaller info. Hands on straight forward info, without the bullshit. Kinda nice.

Here is a pic from this past weekend, a nice male. Called in 6 on Saturday, but due to crazy wind and poor shooting on my part I only put one on the ground.

Nice going TJ!

I should have known those calls were mountain mahogany... you've used that for some real beauties.

I love my Rugers too! That's almost the exact gun Ed Wimberly uses if I remember right. I have a newer M77 with the 3 position safety in .223 and it does a fine job as a walking gun. Light weight and points like a custom for me.

This place is going to get lonely this week as the Ronde gets underway but there will still be a few of us online. [Big Grin]

Tony, turns out my wife doesn't know her directions or distances very well. I am accompanying her while she is on a business trip. She told me we would be staying at a condo about 60 miles West of Butte. Not so, when I asked her for the actual town we would be in Friday night she said Anaconda. [Roll Eyes] She has to do an interview Saturday in Drummond and that is about as close Hamilton as I guess we will be.

Tony,
I called around Drummond last year. We had one coyote come in, but he winded us and buggered out. My partner over there said the wolves have really taken a toll on the coyotes and I believe him. I was surprised at just how little the coyotes would howl. He said since the wolves moved in the coyotes have really got tight lipped and don't howl much. I'm dreading the day those dang wolves get a foothold in the Highwoods or Little Belt mountains.

Troy,
Sounds like the coyotes know the pecking order, just like up here. They'll get vocal in a few areas, but most often, they're tight lipped and sneaky under cover.

TJ welcome aboard and thanks for sharing the pics.

We take our obligation to correctly and accurately filling out the Census very serious here. Several members of this site didn't see it that way and they are now former members. Case in point, has anybody seen Andy around here in awhile? How about AZ? Didn't think so...

Serious now, the Census thing is a long running joke around here and if you didn't fill it out, you actually gain cred points. Lone Howl is actually on the Census Bureau's 10 most wanted list!
