Saw the first pup of the year this morning on the drive into work.

This particular place off the highway has a den relatively close, as we always see pairs during breeding season, and this is the third year in a row I have seen pups here, either scampering into the ditch or smashed on the pavement.

This one was having a blast chasing something in the wheat stubble--wasn't taller than the stubble which is about 10" or so, I guess--just caught his head above the stubble. Man, they are all ears when they are small!

Dont give out too much info. Some hammerhead on PMS will be posing with a half dozen or so of them for a hero shot soon.

This past weekend I stumbled onto a den location and was able to watch it at long distance through the spotting scope for a couple mornings. Distance was probably close to a half mile but with the scope on 40X, and the den location being on an east facing slope made things pretty darn clear.

On the two mornings I watched, there were 4 pups and 2 adults. 1 pup was noticably smaller than the others. Must have been the runt of the group I guess? The pups were pretty active the first hour of daylight. The adults didn't spend much time out in the open.

Anyway, pretty darn interesting stuff getting a glimpse into the daily routine of a coyote nest.

Question for the Panel of Experts: Even though the yote pups are kinda small yet, their furr looked pritty good and was wondering if you guys thought it would be pryem yet? Its been kind of a chilly spring and all. [Confused] [Cool] [Eek!]

Either way its probibly best I takem' out as the qaaill are almost gone in these parts and the yotes are the dang problem. [Mad] i'll post pics if i have sum luck [Big Grin]

shoot'em all. You won't be just savin' the quail, but the deer too ya know. Aren't enough deer to go around, and I want to shoot one with big head gear some year, but with the yotes eatin'em all, I ain't got a chance to get a big buck!!

Yep, pups are good and prime this time of year. I use them for hand warmers on my baby seal clubs. Just be sure to use a 17 HMR on them and keep your shots under 300 yards!

Good hunting.

Al, had the same problem yesterday, you might check your outbox and see if its hung up..

I think the problem might be on my end, I checked my in-box last night and a bunch of e-mails are just gone ? and we haven't deleted any.

Sorry about that..

What dolphin? The fish? Mexicans call it dorado and the Hawaiians say mahi mahi. Very good eating and a terrific fish on a hookup.

Good hunting. LB

Yep some are getting very mobil others are on the smaller side, but still costing sheep producers some of their profits, my question is why do they all need to hide in rock piles covered in posion IVY? Damn things.

Bottle nose dolphin, like flipper, you know the one's that get caught in the tuna nets. Some call 'em porpoise. I thought that fit in with the baby seal comment.
