Jeremy and Nick won the big boys class with 19, second place was 13 and I think it was the Guzman team. Dont know the rest. I know there were some 11's. Looked like a tough year for most the huntmasters names I recognized(or they are saving it for next year when the donate to Jeremy and Nick fund is on break).

Two of my best friends Matt and Jon from CO won the little boys class with 8. My partner and I shot 7 and were in a 4 way tie for second place. Our weight was the lowest so we got fifth. Made up for it by winning the little dog pot though with a 14 pounder. Tough competition this year in both classes, lot of coyotes killed. I think it took 8 just to get into 15 place for the pro division. Kinda expected it with the near perfect calling weather most teams had on Saturday and Sunday. My partner and I are pretty new to calling(10 years) and contests(4 years)but we try our asses off. We dont have any connections to land so I take a little pride in how we do. Its all stuff that we line up on our own with landowners we dont know and even have used just public before. We are starting to get our ducks in a row slowly. Cant wait for next year. Half were killed with hand calls(Critr calls, Orion calls) and half with a WT. Same goes for my buddies that shot 8(orion/WT).

413 coyotes killed this year. (I think) I know it was low 400's.

Overall a good contest again. No kegs this year [Mad] , lost a few sponsors, meal was only enough to make a 5 year old full. Other then that same contest. Same ole results for pro class winner.......

400+ coyotes

Hey Lance, how did the Chanute contest go?? Got the top 5 totals and names?

You need to talk the other Lance into having it the weekend after St. Francis. I heard there were only 20 some teams? I know for a fact that I could have got another two teams including my own team into it if it was this next weekend.

Hope it went well and gets established!!!

Patterson, from what I've heard about the St. Francis contest, 5th place is pretty damn respectable even in the lil boys class. Well done guys!

How much mange did you see in those 400+ coyotes that were checked in? Seem like more, less or about the same as last year?

Again, good job.

thanks

There was decent mange again. Mostly depended on where teams were hunting for the most part. Teams that hunted near feedlots had half or more with mange it seemed. All of our Kansas dogs and the ones we missed didnt show any signs of mange, all healthy. We did get one with mange but it was a Nebraska dog. we only got two in that area so I dont know how wide spread it was but the other dog didnt have it(pup). My buddies had 7 out of 8 with mange. Some were very bad cases of it. Gross.

Here is a picture of our coyotes
 -

We had another great weekend of calling waking up on Saturday with the temperature hovering around -5 with very little wind. Sunday morning we had single digit temps but a tad bit more wind but nothing to complain about. We saw 15 coyotes on Saturday and killed 13. Sunday we saw 9 and killed 6. Shot 2 shotgun coyotes and the farthest killed coyote was 275 yards.

Loco, we will sit out next year and probably go to a contest somewhere else.
