Well guys I have been outta the loop for awhile. I use to hunt a lot of coyote calling contests and call just for fun. I got into shooting sporting clays, got married, opened my own company and just never seemed to find time to call. I called a couple times a winter or when I was bored in a deer blind but this past weekend I caught the bug again. I got on a deer lease in West TX with some family that has been on it awhile. I went out this past weekend and checked my feeder and did some calling with a buddy of mine Kris that had never hunted coyotes before. It reminded me of why I loved it so much.

Our first stand was in the afternoon we had zero wind and it was about 70 degrees with cloud of mosquitoes. After about 5 minutes of calling Kris sees a coyote coming down the road and into the mesquite brush to our right. The coyote popped out about 50 yards to our right and sees me about the same time I see him and he starts barking at us mad as hell until Kris took him.

The second stand was at night and we had one come in downwind and lock up about 80-100 yds out and I took him. We got tired of the mosquitoes after that and called it a night.

The next morning we had about a 15 mph south wind and it was 55 degrees. With the wind at our backs about 15 seconds of calling and a little female comes busting in and I took her with a load of #4s at about 30yds.

We made 2 dry stands and Kris found out we don't get one every stand. [Confused] Then we made one more stand in a pumpjack clearing and after 10 minutes or so a young male with bad mange came sneaking in and Kris took him at about 45 yards.

Here's a couple pictures I left my camera in the truck and didn't get a pic of the 4th one.

I'm hoping to get a lot of calling in this year and look forward to catching up with some old friends on here.

Later,
Justin
