Spoke to Leonard who said making a thread dedicated to the idea would allow members to toss around some ideas about the event.

My ideas-

3 weekends 1 month apart to give weather a fair chance everywhere. Weekends are picked at random to not coincide with other stuff going on.

This could be an annual event possibly.

$50 per 2 person team- winner takes all.

Pictures must be submitted after each hunt in a timely fashion following preset criteria to eliminate chances of bending the truth about kills.

Teams can be from anywhere and go anywhere.

Coyotes, foxes, bobcats, lions..

Ok, how about the division's, SW, East, Midwest ???

You score points from winning the division hunt, top 5 receive points, 5 for first 4 for second etc.

Three events, team or person with most points wins.

If someone would happen to win the events all three times in their division, a maximum of 15 points could be scored.

Divisions, East- Mn. Ia. Mo. Ar. La.and any state east of that, SW- Texas, NM, AZ, UT NV. CA, Co. Ok, , Midwest,Sd. Nd. Wy. Mt. Id Wa. Or. Ne. Ks.

Simple and kind of evens out the field population wise, should work about as best as a guy can.

Maybe Ok and Co. moved to Midwest??

Like Scott said a designated date each month for three months, weather is just a variable like it is in contests already, you can't always hunt in prime conditions! Weather will bite all of us at sometime.

If you happen to be in a contest on that date with a partner, one person may claim the coyotes?? or person who killed the coyotes?? both get to claim coyotes??

What do ya think, will this be an individual title or team event??

If individual you could only claim coyotes you killed?? if team only claim coyotes you kill as a team or alone your option.

To complicated and it's only braggin rights, individual, if you hunt as a team coyotes count for both individually, simple, alone all yours!!

No more than two man teams though.

What do ya think.

This sounds like a bull shitting competition. The first liar doesn’t have a chance. LOL Count me out. If you are feeling competitive Scott just sign up for the world or Midwest hunt. The true measure of a well rounded caller is to see what they can do outside of there back yard.

Good hunting.

I think Scott Huber still has NO power at his p[lace due to the blizzard we had last week! I think the elec poles in his area are still down! Might be a few days before he gets back online!

I personally don't think it would be tough to keep the bullshit out of an internet competition. Putting money on the line would probably push some to grab coyotes they didn't actually shoot, but just making it a 'best hunter around' title wont inspire people to even make the effort to enter the competition. Foxpro does the specific yearly gang sign, which works fairly well to keep the dishonest hunter no the up-and-up. A printed 2009 HM Contest logo you print out and put in the picture of the dead coyotes would work (kinda like a dated newspaper).

$10 per 2 man team or per individuals to enter gets funds enough to purchase a silly trophy that gets passed around year after year.

Are you serious? The enspiration comes from being called the best, the money is for those that want the cash! Sadly too many contest are based on the cash and rampant cheating in an area is hard enough to control let alone anything done across the internet!

I doubt many on here would cheat but how do you even remotly control that across the internet? If someone just wants the notority how do you stop them from "canning" coyotes? Pop them on ice and wait for photo op weekend walla 2 men went from calling in 5 coyotes to 12 real quick!

I mean it is tough for "local" 1 day events to eliminate cheating let alone across the web! I say go for it I would love to see the photo's but after awhile I see many raising an eyebrow or two on how this "could" turn out!

Jimmy and Johnny find out about the hunt masters coyote hunt, we want everuone to know our name just like "Norm" at the bar! We will have our buddys can coyotes and we will can coyotes and then we will win this thing and we will be famous over the internet!

Will you be asking for close up photo's of liver temp readings?

The other morning early like 5AM dark I was heading down South to hunt and saw a black Toyota 4 Runner with a rack on top pulled over by the side of the road. As I got closer there was a guy out of his vehicle in camos standing over a road killed coyote. I drove on by and didn't think twice about it until this morning when I was logging into the Foxpro site to see if their contest had started. Hmmmmmm....

In the end it seem there are too many cheaters I guess to do something like this.

Quinton's comment had nothing to do with being 'big'. I made the thread and Scott H. hasn't posted in it as of yet, and Quinton responded to the whole idea of the hunt. Not too tough to understand I thought.

Where's the option to delete this entire thread?

Drat. I'm unable to rid this forum of my bad internet hunting contest idea. It will haunt me til the grave now. K, let's go back to arguing about mange, lice, and how someone said fur was prime when it really wasn't on a cable TV show.

Scott F. I'll tell you what, I am going out the 1st weekend in December and taking out 3 folks that have never hunted coyotes before and a video camera. I won't be carrying a rifle. I would be willing to throw $20 bucks in a hat to see who kills more on a single day, sunrise to sunset. I am sure it would be a donation since we won't be running a lot of stands, but it would make the day more interesting.

Someone around here needs some huevos.

Besides that, deleting a thread is not a solution on Huntmasters. Did you forget where you were, for a minute?

So, if it starts turning against ya, you will just have to take your lumps.

Good hunting. LB

Thanks for the offer. I really don't think you'll get any more takers besides myself. Apparently people only want competition at a national event. I can only guess, based on the comments, they want a more organized event that brings higher prestige. I just wanted something HM based for fun.

Leonard, if it's gonna take hounding people to do something it's not worth it.

tlbradford, we did a contest hunt this weekend with a predator newbie, he was an experienced big game bow hunter. I put a coyote in front of him at 24 paces, stopped, facing forward. My hunter fired his shotgun, the coyote hit the ground, jumped up and took off into the thickets. We crawled on our hands and knees 100 yards or so and could not differentiate our coyotes tracks from all of the others covering the ground.
I asked him what was he using , 4 buck or deadcoyote?
He said 4 shot.
You mean 4 buck.
No, the manager at Cabela's told me everyone uses 4 shot for coyotes and that is what he sold me.
Tyler had told this young man to bring a shotgun and 4 buck or deadcoyote. I should have checked him out BEFORE he sprayed a coyote with birdshot.
We did not recover that coyote.
