Since I met a lot of you at the campout, thought I'd do some posting and stop being a lurker. (I'm Glen, the other ladder aficiondo with Scott F.)

Here's a couple of big foxes I got yesterday, (handcalls as usual) both on the same stand. My Dad dusted the big one with his .22 and left the other for my shotgun, though they both seem pretty big. Now I've called some foxes before, but these just seemed so huge, especially the one my Dad shot. Your opinion?

I've killed hundreds of greys and I've never seen one as big as the one your Dad is holding...Unless your Dad is only 4' tall.

I hope you kept them... I sold my Eastern Greys last year for a $52 average. The western ones may not bring that much, but it will probably pay more than skinning a coyote..

I think that's a hell of a nice gray, not sure if I have seen one very much bigger?

Now, I mentioned this at the campout, and nobody commented, one way ot the other, but I will repeat it again, just for the shock effect alone.

Now, one coyote knows both of these guys, and he may be able to comment on their reliability and honesty.

Back around '75/76 Pat McGee and Rick Orelli killed a gray fox around Farmington, NM and were able to weigh it. Twenty-eight pounds! Hard to believe, I know, but I have to believe these guys since they are the best I have ever hunted with.

Good hunting. LB

My Dad is about 5'8", and we're gonna get both foxes mounted together - too great of a hunt and too big of a fox to get rid of!

Yeah, they are honest guys alright, but 28 lbs? That's the size of a big bobcat. If Rick says it's so, then it's so.
A few years back the club had the largest animal awards for coyote, bobcat, gray fox and badger. The gray fox that won was a 12 pounder, biggest one I ever seen and I've seen alot of dead grays.

Yeah, 12 pounds is as big as anything I ever killed. I don't know if the one pictured is a twelve pounder, but he looks mighty close?

As far as Rich and Pat. They sure as hell wouldn't have had any reason to lie about something like that, esppecially since it's over twice as big as a big gray fox? Dead serious, though.

Good hunting. LB

Taxidermist results:

11.5 lbs on the big fox, 9 lbs on the smaller one.

For sure I am getting these two mounted together.
