One team showed up at our hunt this weekend having killed a most unusually marked bobcat.

 -

The belly was exceptionally wide coming over halfway up the animal's sides. Very wide and white with glaringly dark black spots. But, that was the only black on her other than a big black tip on her tail. All the spots in the normally tawny part of her hair were cinnamon colored. The white inside of her legs came clear around and up the outside of her legs, and the white that normally is on the bottom jaw and upper lip came clear to the level of the eyes. The backs of her ears were orange where they should have been grizzled black, too. A few pics.

 -

Very bright looking 'cat.

Fact is, in Kansas, you're never too far from a farm house or ranch, nor are you beyond where any old farm cat or dog would be willing to go on a walkabout.

Loco, kinda makes you wonder just how easily they can X-breed with domestic cats, doesn't it?

Lance,

Was it really small too? Pictures I know can be deceiving but that cute little critter looks about 10 lbs. I think your right, its a coycat.

About 11.5 to be exact, Loco. Good guess.

Lance, did it really have a black tipped tail? Close inspection will show that what looks to be a black tip is actually a white tip, on a bobcat. Most easily seen from the underside of the tail. Also, it's not so much black on the ears, as it is white patches, which virtually all spotted cats possess.

Good hunting. LB

Leonard, the tail did have white on the underside as normal, and the ears, as seen, were normally marked, except that the part that's usually pigmented grizzled blackish grey was redish orange. That black on top of the tail and the spots on the belly were the only true black on this cat, and not in any other spots.

That cat aint anything near as unusual as the cat Tad Brown called in Kansas. I think it was on the lohman predator challeng 2 video. IT was yellow and white. They had some good footage of it.

Well i don't know Tad brown, but this cat sure looks unusual. i cant say i was ever very impressed with anything from lohman.
stevecriner,
Does your area have a good population of bobcats? the area i am in does, but we don't see to many cats colored unusual like that. So i find it hard for anyone to down play it from the norm.
