There has been a darker colored coyote running around the area i hunt for the last 4-5 years. We kick him out of the long grass at least once a year and he has always managed to get bye us.
Yesterday i got a look at him in the open just before he ducked into the long grass and he still had his long thick and blackish colored fur, a beautiful coyote by my standards. I went into the long grass after him and he managed to escape once again. Today i got some of the guys together and we went through the long grass again hopeing to kick him up. We walked through most of the grass and was comeing up to the end of it and it was'nt looking good. About 50 yds from the end one of the walkers waves his hand and hollers coyote, the coyote was up and running along the fence line to the north in the tall grass and headed towards me and the 17 Pred.. First shot i fired was to far in front so i reduced the lead on my second shot and caught him just behind the shoulder. I ran up to the dead coyote and could not believe how nice it looked, i flipped him over and no exit hole... This coyote was a lengend for a time and i'm glad i was the one to get him with the 17 pred., the coyote deserved a good clean kill with-out his guts busted out or all shot up in the wrong places...
This coyote is going to the tannery and well hang on my wall out of respect for him and as a reminder of why i love to hunt coyotes.. T.A. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f208/TA17Rem/IMG_1343.jpg[/IMG]]

That is a unique coyote Tim. I think I would have it tanned as well. Maybe rugged? Anyway good job and keep after them. They are rubbing around here already.
Good hunting.

Nice healthy coyote. We have several here in S. Mo. like that. I take 4-5 every year that are dark like that along the back. Also shoot 2-3 a year that are really red on top and cream colored underneath. Those are my favorites. Should make a nice tanned hide.
