Despite warmer temps today, I managed to get two coyotes this morning, and Matt managed to kill two big males this evening. (He invited me to go along, but knew damned well that I had my little girl at home and couldn't. He needs the practice 'cause he'll be gunning with Q this next week and doesn't want to embarrass himself.)
The first two are mine, mange and all, both of them.

These two are Matt's..

I reminded him that it only took me four stand to kill my deuce. It took him six. Rookie!
Just to save Tim the trouble, I already noted that my two are losing their hair while Matt's are fully furred.
Yeah, I get it.
Very funny!!!

That first one of Matt's is a damned nice dog.
Find out where he is hunting, Lance.
Thanks for sharing.

Oh, I know. He went one direction from town. I went the other. That dog weighed in right at 36#, so he was a nice one.

We killed a mangy one last week back there, west of Miltonvale. I keep hoping that the mange is about cleaned up, guess ya still got work to do.
That one is a big 'ol dog!

The two I killed were roughly 20-25 miles south and a bit east of Miltonvale, so where I was might be the southernmost tip of the rough area because most of what my landowners have been reporting to me on have been "good looking coyotes". I was disappointed to get two like that, because I was hoping we'd cleaned it up, too.

The only things that clean up mange are mother nature and time.

CW,
I kind of like to help out Mother Nature and time.
I figure that all of the infected ones that I kill, can't spread the mite to a healthy animal.

Oh Cdog, the mange will get much worse before it gets better. fasten youre seat belt cause youre in for the long ride..
Have had the mange here since the mid 80's, it don't matter if its hot or cold it will still show its badd side year round, with some areas worse than others. T.A.
