After eight long weeks in bed, and a few more teeth broken from muscle spasms I finally got to make a quick hunt.
Yesterday I got a call from my rancher that two Coyotes were in the south end of the hay field about a mile from my house. I grabbed the 243 my calls and range finder. Drove real slow to the south end of the hay field. Not a sign of a Coyote.
The hay cutter pointed to the North end of the field. I turned around and idled towards the North. Still no sign.
There is a pipeline maker that the weeds have made about a six foot circle around. I turned the truck side ways thinking they were laying in the ditch bank cover about twenty yards from the pipeline marker. The marker ranged 328 yards.
I put my pipe insulation on the window, and then laid the Howa on it. Four quick chirps and both Coyotes stepped out from behind the pipeline marker. They had this look like where did that big black truck come from. The smaller one headed slowly toward the ditch. The larger one just stood staring at me. Just as I placed the correct wire on the Burris on him he started walking off to join the other one.
Four more chirps and he turned and started walking slowly towards me. Got the Burris wire on him just as he turned sideways. I gave the 75 gr V- Max the go signal and was rewarded with that whop sound we all love. He was dead before God got the news. I did not see him in the fresh cut hay till I was within 25 yards of him.
On close inspection the V-Max entered about 1 1/2" from my aiming point. He went 39 pounds on my scale.
Sorry the story was so long, but it has been so long since I had a story, I had to milk it for all I could.

Slydog, You made it back alive? Glad to hear that someone down in Florida didn't mistake you for a real turkey. By the way, my wife loves the necklace you made for her. She won't take it off. Just this morning however, I saw her out in the yard waving a blanket over a smoldering pile of cottonwood coals. Smoke signals? Oh my gosh!

Chad, You must have a magic save for those chapped lips.
Still don't get it do ya.
Lets recap, Ronnie offers you one of his "She Howlers" you decline. Why?
I'll make it easy for you. I'll send you one of my "Lady D.I.E's" FREE, I'll even pay shipping, I offer my number (208) 841-5554 and I'll teach you the sound and then you go out and do your damnedest to prove me wrong... I've had too many callers who are having success with this sound to listen to your crap anymore.... Put up or stand down, either way I'm tired of your gas!
BTW I haven't released this call yet, only my Pro Staff and the guys involved in the study have them and I'm offering one to you free of charge, before you can buy one. All you have to do is say the word. Its up to you, do with it what you will.
Grandfather quote: "There are none so blind as those who will not see"
Its all on you now

Sly,
I NEVER said the sounds you make wouldn't work.Just don't believe it works necessarily for the same reasons you believe it does.Plain and Simple...
I really do appreciate the offer for your new call, just like I told Ronnie it really is appreciated..But if I ever were so inclined to use the "Estrus Chirp" I have no doubt that my "Wiley One" howler could make this Coveted sound.

Chad,
I know what you continue to say but you sir are just dissagreing without seeing it for yourself. If you would use this sound with a little blind faith you would soon change your tune and we would not have to wast time bantering back and forth.
You talk to me like I'm some kind of fool, well sir I'm neither a fool nor would I waste my time and money if I didn't have faith in this sound. I have seen it work. I have people who are using this sound and having success with it and after using it they are starting to see what I have been saying all along.
The KEY to this SOUND is USING IT! Those who will not try it, Must be intimadated because they maybe don't understand it or maybe fear the unknown. I'm realy not sure but I would think anyone who needs numbers or wants to add to their arsonal and has an offer (2 Times) to add a new sound to the ol'bag of tricks but refuses must not want to kill more coyotes.
I just don't understand how someone can talk shit but not be willing to at least try it at no cost to themselfs.
I would be putting this "sound" to the test so I could know for myself. Thats just me. I want to see for myself not blindly follow someones elses lead.
BTW: This sound can be made on any howler but it ain't easy and you will not have the repeteability that either Ronnies or my call has.
I guess its easier to laugh than to learn.
just my thoughts

Slydog, I think it would be a good idea to simply use the new sound as an "Ace in the hole", or the much needed "edge" if you will. There will always be unbelievers. Ever notice how many people used to laugh at Leonard's magic mist? Let em laugh I say.

Sly,
You tell me I'm blind!!!! Give me a break..Either you're blind or you can't read.I NEVER SAID THE SOUNDS YOU ARE MAKING WOULD NOT CALL COYOTES!!!! Just don't think you Know for sure why coyotes respond to the said sound.
I'm not going to get into another 5 page debate with you Sly about this it's not worth it.
Like Scott said at the very beginning of this whole mess, most of the time when people come out with a "new sound" it's because they have something to sell.I'm done with this so knock yourself out.Good Hunting Chad [ May 20, 2007, 09:11 AM: Message edited by: UTcaller ]

I agree with UT caller, it sure as heck mat call coyotes but the wording would leave one confused?
It may at this time of year sound like a pup vocal or many other things but I bet with a den full of pups and the "stress" of raising them the last thing the female or male wants as this time of year is any talk of "esterous" kinds LOL .
If it works great, we all have ace in the hole sounds.

Randy,
I really do like the Wiley One,I have called quite a few coyotes with it and they really seem to like the higher pitch sounds that this howler makes .I think I might have to order some of the new reeds from Jerry.I have also thought about getting the mini howler he just made too.
coyote whacker,
That was the point I was making.Kind of taking a little jab at the earlier comments from the previous threads that the "Estrus Chirp" was a "Demand for Breeding".The sound may work like a charm for calling coyotes but we really can't say for certain why the coyotes respond, especially if it is working after the breeding season is over.I believe if the sound works use it, but to sell the idea that it's because it plays on there breeding instinct is misleading.FWIW
