Glad you enjoyed your trip Tim and instructions!
Too bad we didn't have more coyotes and better weather but that's what we usually get this time of year. I'm anxious to hear your report back on those hunting strategies I shared with you.
Colt and I called in a pack of three yesterday morning and I shot 2. Couldn't get a clear shot on the third. One appeared to be a 2 year old male and the other a 3 year old male. The younger one was actually the biggest and the first one in. Wish Sly would have been there to tell me which one was the alpha because I couldn't tell. Walked 4 miles of rough river breaks.
Later!

TA: "If you would of used the estress chirp you could of maybe called the 3rd one back.. LOL"
If those who use the "estrous chirp" could agree on what it's supposed to sound like, I would have given it a try. LOL!

Yeh, I decided to carry the "she howler" and see if I could chirp a tough coyote in but keep relying on the old proven methods. Took a long time to get this "burned" coyote to 323.

Poor TA17Rem. He travels all that way and doesn't get to pull the trigger. You could at least missed one for him Scott.

tl: "Poor TA17Rem. He travels all that way and doesn't get to pull the trigger. You could at least missed one for him Scott."
I told TA before he came out that I would be working problem coyotes and that we didn't have many coyotes due to the mange. He knew up front that he may not get much shooting for those two reasons. He understood that. If a coyote was going to be missed in a complaint area, it's going to be me that misses, not someone else because I don't like mopping up after someone else in problem areas. I am not saying that I can't miss nor am I saying that TA might be a better shot than me. Doesn't matter, I'm the one who has to go back and mop up a miss so I'm going to shoot my problem coyotes, not someone else. Had TA came out in the fall, I wouldn't have a problem with letting him shoot in non problem areas. I'm not working problem coyotes for the fun of shooting them. That's just the way it is when you have to get those coyotes killed.

Tim, your gettin closer. You went calling, took it in, never pulled the trigger and had a ball. I know you were getting lessons, but maybe more lessons than you realize?
I will never get over watching coyotes responding and their reactions to different things. I was talking to Higgins about this a few days ago. I would never carry another gun to a stand if I could either film or watch a kid or someone else who hasnt done much of it take the shot. As long as I can be there to see the show.
Glad you had fun. ![[Cool]](cool.gif)

Scott, I have never met you and didnt want to say it. But all the pics I have seen of you were after a contest and I was also impressed at the pics above.
Hope you take that in the way it was meant. ![[Cool]](cool.gif)

Andy,
I guess I really don't know how to take it nor do I really care what I look like while coyote hunting particularly after a couple days of hard contest hunting. I don't care about anything more than how many coyotes I killed, what I learned, or how well I shoot.

Damn, Scott. That's the only time I have seen ya, at a contest. Getting harder and harder to give a SD resident a compliment, these days! Anybody else notice?
Good hunting. LB
