Cabela's presented a predator calling contest yesterday. Gerry Blair, whom some of you may have heard of, George Knox, of PVCI, and Ron Peeples, also of PVCI, judged the contest.
Only nine callers signed up but they were veterans. Most of them compete in the state championships each year and at least two of them, father and son team Ron and Jeremy Donafield, have won the state a couple of times.
Tyler won 1st place.

Congratulations, Tyler. But, you need to let the old man win, once in a while.

I'd like to enter that thing one of these days, just for the heck of it.

Good hunting. LB

Congratulations Tyler!

How are those kind of contests structured? Is there a list of sounds that need to be used? Or is it just a free-style kind of thing?

Just got off the phone with Rich. He did a "chirp" for me a couple times. Tyler got first, Dad got second place. Jay was a nonparticipating observer.

Good hunting. LB

Congrats to both of you. However, I already told you that in person. I was there to witness the event. The guys behind the table wanted me to sign up also, but when I saw the roster, I knew the only place for me would be the caboose! No way, man. There were some quality competitors there. Congrats to both of you, as well!
I sure would like to enter one of those just for the hell of it. Sounds like it would be a blast.

Tyler Higgins,
Congratulations on your contest win. Gerry Blair tells me that you sound a lot better on a call than Dad does.
