If you would take a look at the map below....
The yellow dots indicate dead coyotes I've shot in this area. The blue are my stands. Red lines are a dirt tractor road, wind is from upper left to right almost always here as per the arrow. The big red dot is where the farmer dumps dead cattle each year.
The purple dots are places I am thinking of as new stands.
Would you agree or disagree with them? I'm getting tired of sitting in the same old places.
Most of the coyotes in the past have come right to the edge for a minute or two before trying to circle or just heading back into the brush.
thanks AL

Personally I think that would not be the place to be. Place more down and to the right. Your scent, from what I see, is going to be traveling down from the "dead cow" area. That is if you want to use that area like I assume you would.

THO, For me personally, I couldn't begin to have an idea from a topo. I have to see the lay of the land with my own eyes and my feet right there to have an idea of where I personally want to set up. I think everyone just kind of develops a feel for where they want to be. It's kind of funny because my most of the time calling partner and I come from the same country and calling style, and we will gravitate to the same spot every time without saying a word to each other.

Yes, I am using hand calls.
I was hoping to give them natural cover to try and get down wind of the sound while watching the edges of the fence rows and tree lines. I would only sit on one spot per trip.
When I call them from the corners of the fields, they seem to just appear at the edges, and sometimes you don't pick them up until they are moving back in the brush. I was hoping this might be a way to pick them up sooner, or if they do come to the edge and the slink back in, to watch them as they circle, if they do.
I also think sometimes they see me coming in. These new spots give me a way to get to a stand using the tree cover to my advantage also.
Well, just trying to plan for next year.
