It would be dfferent if I had not just had surgery, AND I HAD A DECENT PLACE TO HUNT. Driving two thousand miles without a hunting area is worse than stupid, and a waste of time and money. I won't go back until somebody I know very well assures me that we have a decent chance.
Good hunting. LB

When and where?
I can't go anywhere this year (or probably the next 5...) but I'm always curious what's going on around here (midwest).
later, scruffy

Leonard, come on out here for the Indiana Predator Challenge and I'll guide your team. All I can promise you is steep hills and dense forest, but it'll be a great time!
Where's the info on this Midwest Contest? [ December 22, 2005, 11:33 AM: Message edited by: Jrbhunter ]

It's the St. Francis hunt in a couple weeks. I need to know ASAP which is the best night to be there to just shake some hands and get to see a few people so I can put in a request for time off. Would it be best to be there Saturday night, or Sunday afternoon? Are all the hunters back in SF on Saturday night or are they allowed to stay out until Sunday check-in?

Cdog, I would say that Friday would be the best time to see most, or Sunday depending on if everyone comes back for check in. Not many will be around Sat. night I would guess since there's no rule making them check in on Sat. I'm not going to make it. I got other coyotes on my platter that weekend!

http://www.predatorsniperstyx.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=events that is the website with most of the info on the hunt. Cdog911 I would say Friday afternoon would be the best. They do a calling contest and they encourage everybody to come early to meet each other etc... Also you get to see the Calcutta which can be entertaining at times. Sunday night they do check in and awards, by this time everybody is tired and ready to jet out of there as soon as possible. Hope to see everybody there.

Lance, as I recall, everything social that happens will be on Friday afternoon, bidding, rules, calcutta. Sunday afternoon, is checking, don't remember the exact time, but afterwards, they eat and pass out the money.
Therefore, if you only have one day to spend, pick between Friday or Sunday, but there won't be anyone around on Saturday. Also, you will miss some people that don't make it back on Sunday, for one reason or another, but mostly having to do with bad luck.
Good hunting. LB

In that case, it's doubtful that I'll make it. I can get either Mon or Sat but not both, and definitely not Fri and Sat together. I'll continue to check here and see what I can do.
Rich and Loco, will you guys be there Sunday afternoon? How 'bout you, Cal? Anyone else from here planning on being there Sunday? If so, Kent and I will definitely try to get out there. [ December 22, 2005, 07:59 PM: Message edited by: Cdog911 ]

We'll be there both Friday and Sunday. But not on Saturday because were hunting a long damn ways from St. Francis. New country, and probably another education! LOL!

the majority of the people will be there on sunday as well its just more of a social event on Friday night. So if you can only make it on sunday don't let that discourage you from coming, I would think it would still be worth your drive. Cal how far of drive ya got? We drive a good ways also right at 3 hrs last year and that was driving 80-85 because didn't think we were going to make it but we passed Les on the way in so we had time to spare. haha

Looks like 3 or 4 hours Jeremy, we are hunting in Oklahoma as far as I know right now.
Rich, are you and Tyler hunting? Last I heard you were filming? Just curious. But looking forward to seeing you there.

Jeremy, I checked with Brent and he said check-in ends at 3 p.m., starts at 1. It's still a big ? whether I will make the trip. Might spend the day off hunting my own area trying to get a 'cat or two to pad the fur check.

Kevin,
I'll plan on seeing you Wednesday (1-4?) for sure and at this point, it looks like Matt and I will be there Sunday afternoon to see everyone when they arrive back in SF.
Looking forward to seeing Rich again, meeting Tyler, getting to see you again, and Loco, meeting Cal and Scott. Don't wanna leave Brent and Jeremy out of the fray and anyone else that plans to be there, be sure to come up and introduce yourself to me. I'll be the one in camo.
One other thing - Rich.. You got my howler or do I have to write a ransom check? ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Geeze Lance, Thats a good idea (wearing camo) so that you'll be easy to pick out. LOL!
I may be wearing camo also. Probably desert camo from Kings. And I'll probably have a cap on. And maybe some calls around my neck. Hope that helps!
Higgins and Huber are the only ones that actually know what I look like.

(Cal, that was kinda the punch line. )
Oh, alright, I'll wear real clothes so I stand out. Matt's coming with me, so I'll be the moderately portly looking damned neart bald guy with the kid standing next to me with a look on his face like it's his first time in a whorehouse or something. I told him he might get to see more than four dead coyotes in one place and his face lit up at the chance.
