Went hunting this last Sunday. Saw several scraps on the ground where coyotes had tried to scratch the ground. Is this the beginning of mating season?

Coyotes will scratch with the rear feet or with all four feet after howling or scent marking. Domestic dogs and wolves will do the same. Mating season begins in Dec. in Az. Actual breeding season is in Feb. and Mar.
