Ok....Asfar as I know we dont have any Badgers here in the southern end of Ohio. But.......
This weekend while bowhunting for deer, I sat in the stand till 12:00am, and was just about ready to climb down when I thought about blowing a call for a short stand before going in to eat lunch. I started the stand and with in min of blowing the ap-6 I seen movement out to my left. I got my bow and turned to see what looked like a badger coming from my left? At first I thought it was a ground hog but it was black with alot of white on it and flat not round. It was longer than any ground hog I have ever seen and alot diffrent in color.
It came up to with in 50 yards of my stand and I gave it a few squeaks and could not get it any closer to the stand. I tryed to go back to the ap-6 but it had forgoten about it and was on its way accross the hollow from me and went out of site. I have never seen a badger here but man it sure looked like one to me? It was around 40 deg in temp, a little to cold for ground hogs. Dont know but I haope it was a badger! We dont even have a season on them here. Any help?

Everything you describe fits with a badger, including the interest level. Sounds like you got them, all right.
Good hunting. LB

Keekee,
If it is a badger one word of advice. Don't piss it off!!!!!! Awile ago there was an argument on which would win a coon or a coyote? Well a badger would kick all there asses. Just keep your distance.

Not in water, the coon would win paws down. On land I'd have to agree with Dave, the badger would probably win. Funny thing about the badgers I've killed, I've never seen a bullet exit a badgers body. If you ever try to case one you'll know what I'm talking about lol, one tough cookie.

Both Southern and Northern Indiana have a bunch of them, I can't see why you wouldn't too.
I shot one on Video with Rich Higgins a year ago. I think I shot him four times, all killing hits. Damned thing didn't die until Rich walked up and sank one into his skull.

I know I couldnt get him no closer, it just had a look and went on over the hill, and out of site! Wouldnt even look back!
We dont have a season on them here so im going to haft to do some checking to see if I can even shoot it or trap it. Im almost a 100% sure it was a badger. Im going to haft to see if I can find some info on these mean ass things.
Like how big of a home range they have and all that good stuff, to see if I can put on down! I got the fever now, never killed a badger!

Yeah, really does suck. So much, in fact, that I'd seek another opinion. I never heard of a state where badgers were totally protected.
