Here is a link to a Coyote I got last year. This season dosn't start till Oct. 1. She weighed 47lbs and was taken with my Rem 700vs in 6mm. These Coyotes beat the heck out of hunting just about everything else! I envy you guys out west, you have alot more critters and room! Tim http://usera.imagecave.com/coyote/

Here you go, Tim. I down sized it a little.
Them NY coyotes really get massive. Must be quite the rush to call something like that in. [ September 24, 2004, 07:53 AM: Message edited by: brad h ]

Man! That's a trophy candidate, what did you do with it?
Good hunting. LB

Thanks Brad! Yes it is a rush, but thankfully I get that everytime I call one in! Its amazing how some of my friends think I'm nuts when I head out in the middle of winter or at night by myself to try to get something to eat me, but I sure like it!
Leonard, She was skinned for a rug and is still frozen. I just ordered a video on Coyote rug making from Big Sky. Its supposed to be here Monday. I've been wanting to learn taxidermy for 30 years and I figure I better get started. Tim

Holy Smoley! She's a big one. Have you shot many more of those in that size range?
BTW: Welcome to the board.

Nice one, Tim. If you have any questions on the taxidermy part, feel free to gimme a yell.

That thing is huge! I've killed a couple of nasty smelling old dogs around here that were about ten pounds lighter that had more beefy facial features and such...
It also looks like you center punched her about as perfectly as one could!
Just to put in to proper perspective, how tall are you?
Was she scooting out when you shot her?
What an animal! I'm impressed!
I'm a firm believer in using enough gun, have you traded that 6mm yet? LOL!!!

Joe, I'm 5'7 barefoot and a bit heavier than I want at 185lbs. Maybe chasing yotes will help with that! This one was trotting to my right at about 100yrds. She was intent on getting down wind of me. When I moved my gun to get on her she stopped broad side just long enough. I actualy was going to trade my 6mm a couple weeks ago. I got watching some videos and the 22-250 was looking like a better bet. I changed my mind when I looked at the ballistics of the 2. The 6mm works well on deer and realy dosen't do to bad on the coyote hides.

Tim, thanks for the feedback.
I'll stick by what I said and will repeat that you hit her about as good as you could... to much time spent looking at the coyote and thinking that the blood stain behind the shoulder was the exit - thinking that she was stretching out and heading for parts unknown.
I can relate to those extra pounds, changed jobs a couple of years ago and really thought that I hadn't changed anything else and gained twenty or so......
Big coyote, beyond a doubt!
22-250 vs 6mm... I no longer own a 6mm (bad)... Not sure that it really matters where I shoot! The main thing is that you're getting some hunting in...
