Topic: Five on one stand?

Yesterday me and my buddy Floyd spent the day hunting coyotes. On one stand we called in and shot two coyotes we then went out and retrieved them as we were loading them in the truck another coyote or two started howling so we went and sat back down but facing a different direction and on the opposite side of the fence line we then started calling again and called in two more. We both shot at the same time and bagged two more. As we were congratulating ourselves another coyote ran up to the one Floyd shot and started sniffing it in a submitting type posture (i find this interesting) then Floyd shot it. The first two we shot were mature males The second two were females and the third was another male.
Does this count as one stand? LOL

Heck yeah! But, it's a strange one, no doubt about it.
One thing that's unusual, at least to me, is that you killed three more after getting up and moving around. I've done the same thing before, but it almost always involves just one animal. Sometimes a cat.
You definitely made the big time, dude!

So Albert, when you took me with you was it a test to see how well I could do? Then, when I'm not along, you pull out all the stops!
Leonard, there is more to his story than just these five coyotes. Many more, right Albert.
I got a phone call with some of the details.
In all seriousness, congratulations. I would like to have been with you guys if only to see it all unfold. What was the total elapsed time on this stand from opening call sequence to final shot? I didn't get this detail from our buddy.

No, Leonard I didn't voice howl, I don't do much of it since I bought the WT. I should though, there is no doubt in my mind the it is highly effective. The best day I ever had was using voice, hand calls and the old JS.
I think the reason we got away with so much movement on that stand was because the fence line had brush and 30 foot trees in it. So the coyotes didn't observe us. You would like this stand, we were never more than ten yards from the truck.
Hi Kelly! glad to see that you have finally posted. This is the best predator board on the web.
Kelly don't you know that never show the competion your best locations. LOL. I would guess the total time on the stand was about fifteen minutes on the first sit down and five min to load then another five min to get the three.
To my recollection this is how it went. Played the rabbit for about seven min. nothing came in, so I lone howled. Two replied, First one off to the southwest about 1/2 mile away then one close by in the bush north of us about 200 yards. put the rabbit sound back on and with in a min or so the close one popped out. Came in to the call, stopped him Floyd shot him. The coyote off to the south west was still making a ruckus so I challenged him and then played the red fox in distress. We were starting to think that he wasn't going show when there he was half way in. How those coyote can cross a fairly open field like that and not be seen is beyond me. Let him come in the rest of the way Flyod stopped him and I shot him. We then picked up the coyotes. When we loading the coyotes the two to the north east of us started howling. At first I thought we were busted but then I noticed they weren't barking very much so what the heck, we were there might as well give it a try. Went and sat back down facing the direction the howling came from and tried a lone howl didn't seem to be moving any closer so then I tried the challenge howl it took a couple of try's but then you could tell they were getting closer. Put the rabbit back on and in they came. They didn't want to come in close so we ended shooting them at about 270 steps. We left the rabbit play after the shot and within a min. the third one ran up to one of the downed coyotes were Floyd shot him. Some times it is more important to be lucky than good.
