Could be better could be worse. I have ben guiding a hunter the last 4 days and so far he has gutshot one coyote. I picked him up on the run though. He is an older fellow and has a real hard time getting into position. I feel bad about the deal but I don't want to see any coyotes get away. Several have that shouldn't of.

Danny, you have good reason to feel sensitive on the age issue.

He probably meant 45 or so? Wouldn't that be "older" to a thirty year old?

Guiding a man that old, you might even have to mix his Metamucil, and warm his milk at bedtime. Alzheimers' begins around that age, don't it? For sure, can't trust them with loaded guns!

Hey, are you making this trip or not? Maybe we can hunt that NM ranch you have talked about? I haven't hunted the boot in ten years.

Hey Q, how'd you manage getting the legs on his walker around the clumps of bunch grass without him falling and breaking a hip?

At least you can hunt. I've waited ten days to get out today. I wake up to fog and drizzle. No biggy. I go out and it starts to rain. Thunder. Lightning. Gettin' to be a biggy. I come home with the wipers on "faster'n hell" thinking we're in the midst of a deluge only to log on and find that the band of rain is sittin' right smack dab across the entire three counties I hunt, and going nowhere. I think God hates me. If he doesn't want me to hunt, I wish he'd just keep the rain and send me ol' guys or something. At least they fall asleep in the truck so you can sneak off and pull a quickie stand. [Wink]

You really should charge double, if a guy is over the hill; say 50, or so.

And, you notice; they never see shit. Very discouraging, calling in all those prime dogs, and letting them romp. Stands are primarily "nap time". Oh yeah!

It's rare when one of those Gray Panters actually kill something. On purpose. Oh well, always good for a laugh, right?

Speaking of damn-near-dead hunters... My Dad has an Uncle, who turned 93 two days ago. Weather here has been pretty bad the last few days, snowing and cold. Grant is damn near blind, is on oxygen, has prostate cancer, his doctors tell him that shooting is absolutely out of the question for a number of valid reasons, and that he better stay indoors when the weather is like this. But, Uncle Grant spent the day before and the day of his 93rd birthday, in a duck blind, and managed to bring a few down out of the sky. Says he'd just as soon join all his friends in the big duck blind in the sky if he can't go hunting.

I'm not sure I really WANT to get that old. But, if it should happen, I can only pray that I can be like Grant.

For that matter, my Dad is just shy of 70, and still the best game shot with a rifle, except for one or two other people, that I've ever seen.
