An old friend and I made it out today and did well. Nine killed and one lost. We were two far from home to get my dogs so we had to let it go. I HATE it when that happens but it’s the nature of the beast. I was the culprit too. The coyote was hung up at a little over 400 yards and I took a frontal shot at him. I didn’t hold enough for wind and thumped him to far off center and he was gone.

Good hunting.

Quinton, spending a weekend with you changed my perspective. Looking at 21 coyotes in two days I think "Dang, that is a lot of hard work." Congratulations again.

Q, looks like a GREAT day. Good job. Has the weather cooled off? It's still way to hot here in E Colorado. If I go the mosquito's respond better than the coyotes. Looks like you have a jacket on so you must be out at first lite. Temp's here yesterday were around high 80's to 90.

Thanks guys, we did have a dang good day but it was miserably hot especially for me. I was in a hurry when I left in the morning and forgot my long-sleeved camo shirt. Round about 9:30 or 10:00 I wanted out of my jacket but all I had underneath was a pure white T-shirt. LOL I was hot x two. That’s kind of typical of me though. It seams like I am reloading shells for the day the morning of the hunt or waiting for my pants to get done drying because I forget to throw them in the dryer the night before. LOL
Good hunting.

You got that right Norm. It is hard work and even Rich can attest to that. He was a good trooper though. I forgot all about his bum foot that he told me about. I would have geared it down a bit had I knew it was bothering him. Most guys would have bitched the whole time about it or stayed back at the truck but he never said a word and kept going.
The hard work doesn’t bother me. It is just when you work really hard and have nothing to show for it. Every time I was ready to call it a day we would kill a coyote and that would give me a little add incentive. It is hard to stay motivated when you are dressed up like a damn cocoon in 80degree temps. It is hard to see the coyotes when your eyeballs are sweating. LOL We kept all the coyotes in the shade as best as we could but by the time we were done and ready to skin several of them had BIG bellies and were getting a little loose between the hind legs. I think they will hold though. I have had coyotes go completely bad on me setting in the back of the pickup in 60 degree weather so now I don’t take any chances and either put them in the shade of peal them out. Direct sunlight is bad news for coyotes. Their fur absorbs heat from the sun very effectively.
Good hunting.

Q, If a Coyote that size with that much fur ran across the road down here. Twenty people would call the Houston Zoo, And tell then a Timber Wolf escaped. Beautiful animals. Hunting cold is one thing. Hunting hot. Is just plain hell.
