A) Do you find that a snooze is in order, in the middle of the day, after a (before dawn) start?
B) Is it worthwhile to hunt the middle of the day?
C) Do late afternoons live up to the billing?
D) Can you gain more by scouting the middle of the day, rather than making marginal stands?
What do you think?
Good hunting. LB

A. If the wind picks up and warms up I quit, and take a long lunch and sometime a nap.
B. If it's cold I like to hunt all day, as long if the wind doesn't pick up.
C. I love late afternoons.
D. I try to do at least a little scouting before I do any calling.
Side note for Rich and Jay: Ronnie and I will be sleeping/napping in shifts. You two should remain in plain sight at all times.

Anymore, with the price of fuel, I like to go sun up to dark. I drive a Chevy "Submarine" and it gets 10 miles to the gallon, up hill, down hill, or shot over a cliff. I have found that 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM is pretty much a bust, but now and then, you get one to come to the call during the mid-day. You can't call them if you don't call them.
Now and then, I like to scout during the day, but most of the time I am calling. Maybe it is both, calling and scouting.
I do not "nap" or eat much during the day.

A. Only if the wind is blowing
B.Yes, Some of my best and productive cat calling is in the middle of the day. It also depends on the time of the month as well.
C. They do for me. Again, the time of the month does make a big difference in success.
D. I make all day scouting trips before clients come. But I have been known to check out a water tank or two in the middle of the day for sign etc.

For my area:
A - No snoozing as from Nov - Jan days are too short to snooze. Come early spring all bets are off. In Dec sunrise to sunset is under 4 hours!
B - Mid day is really no different except in late season
C Late afternoon - On either ends (Oct, Feb - April)of the season late afternoons can be very productive. Mid season, no diffence.
D - Continually scouting between stands.

I have actually called and killed MOST of my coyotes between 10AM and 1PM...don't know why, they just seem to WANT to come during that time.

I don't stop for long, but it's not oncommon for me to break for a couple of chunks of ring bologna and sharp chedder cheese and a 15 minute catnap. At my age, 15 minutes seems to make a world of difference on my energy level.
