Five days and counting boys!!! Moose, Wolf, Black Bear and Caribou look out cuz here I come. I will be testing Lances new $hit bird call on the local wildlife as well. Man I want a wolf bad. I am more excided about that prospect than I am about a trophy moose. Call me crazy but the only rifle I am taking is my swift. I will use my buddy 30-378 on the moose. I just got it back from the gunsmith today with a brand spanking new barrel. I am breaking it in tonight and sighting it in tomorrow. Nothing like cutting it close Eh?

Good hunting.

Q -

Yeah for a predator hunter a wolf can be more of a trophy. Good chance you will take both a bou and a wolf. Where there are caribou there are wolves. Stick a bawling calf call in your stuff unless you call with your own voice. Also don't be afraid to wolf howl a bit. Some times mixing prey and territorial calls up works well when cold calling. The moose can be work and lots of it! Good luck!

Q

Good luck on the hunt. I assume your outfitter or guide will probably inform you that depending on where you are hunting, you might have just as much luck calling in a grizzly as there is a wolf. I think I'd keep that 30-378 close at hand.

Yeah, well. I'm reminded of that movie, "The Ghost and the Darkness" where that dip-**** didn't check his weapon, before he went hunting maneaters.

Better yet, call from treestands. [Big Grin]
(if you can find one)

Good luck, Q.

Promise us an indepth report, when you return. LB

Hey Q -

Just thought of something else. Don't know if you want to mess with red fox or not as you got them where you are from but we have them in all 3 phases here - red, cross & silver. Just a thought... you could do a fox hat trick to go with that wolf.

Sounds like fun Q,
I guess its that time of year. Most of you know I am a big game outfitter here and the madness has started. We have had archery elk hunters already, and now I have a couple archery deer hunts to take care of, (plus try to get a little bow hunting in myself), then starting the 1st of Oct., its "balls to the wall" solid hunts until the end of November. I do want to try to sneak off to Rawlins for Nationals. Hope Alaska treats you well, Q, and we sure need to hear some good stories when you get back.
