Over on the trapperman forum, someone asked for oppinions on what would happen if the government actually outlawed hunting and trapping.

I responded as follows;
If that ever happened, it would not just be the rights to do these things, it would be the end of your guns as well. They would claim that since you can't hunt anymore, then you don't need the guns anymore.
This would throw the entire nation into anarchy. It would be like the middle east.
Many people would still have guns and they would use them to kill the people who took their rights away. And rightfully so. There would be a black market for guns like you could never imagine. Someone said something about the blood of tyrants being spilled for liberty or something. This is exactly what would happen, but many innocent and many stupid people would die as well. It is a situation that is really bad and COULD happen. The millitary would be attacked for it's supply of weapons and some of the attacks would be successfull. You don't want to see it.
------------------
Some agreed and figured it would cause another civil war, but this time against the govt. It would be more like the second American Revolution.
What do you all on this site think would happen?

--------------------
just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Hunting and trapping is a privilege, NOT a right. It seams though that the second amendment is treated like a privilege at times though. It is funny how the ACLU twists and manipulates the first amendment to blanket all of their leftist views but they can’t grasp what “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Means when a third grader with Webster’s New World Dictionary could tell you in about 5 minutes.

I think it would affect our economy as well as our health as a nation dramatically. If man were to in no way interrupt the breeding or migrations of animals it would be an atrocity for both man and animal. Car animal accidents would sky rocket until people started catching on. Crops would all need to be high-fenced to keep the animals out but it would still be a daunting task. As far as the animals managing them selves they would. It would be the boom and bust cycles that would go into effect. Mother nature can take care of herself. It is the position that modern man has put himself in that would cause the most conflict.

The scenario that you are talking about may result in some kind of revolution especially if guns were outlawed as quickly as the hunting was. As it sits know we are loosing both very slowly. Enough pen pricks and it will eventually bleed you dry. Nobody gets as shook up as they should about things like the Brady bill or running Bear with hounds. Sure we are pissed at first but we learn to live with it and as it goes it will eventually be seen as “just the way it is.” As the years and the generations pass the more whittled down our rights and privileges become. Man has become so institutionalized by today’s society that he probably couldn’t function if others did not control so many aspects of his life.

I have a friend that use to work for the railroad and it is unbelievable how many goofy rules and regs and hoops you have to jump through to keep everyone happy. He did say one thing though. If you want to keep your job their for life without any fear of getting laid off or fired you need to either be queer or a cross dresser. He said these people could do anything they want because if they get in trouble they will sue the RR for discrimination. What a world this is. LOL He finally had enough of it and quit.

I don't think the government has to do it. People are so misinformed that they will vote to give up their rights, and yours. How many countries do not allow hunting? I don't think too many?

Good hunting. LB

Q Wagoner is correct. Hunting is a privilege and NOT a right. Our RIGHT to keep and bear arms was placed there by our foreFathers because of the need for citizens to help protect our country, their selves and their families. Hunting brings in a lot of revenue through price of hunting and trapping licenses. It is probably that revenue that keeps Law makers from banning hunting all together.

When I was young a lot of food was put on the table from hunting.Every boy had guns and hunted. Now kids spend all their time playing video games.I taught my kids to handle guns and hunt.
More people used to live in rural areas than in cities now it has turned 180 degrees. When you can walk out your backdoor and shoot there is more interest in shooting.

They will get my guns when they get me.

I read over alot of the Bill of Rights,Declaration of Independence a while back. We're "suppose" to have a militia in each state. We're suppose to have a"well armed militia"for when the gov't gets out of hand.I'd personally consider the outlawing of guns an act of treason. What else could it be considered? We'd have to find the people responsible and arrest them!!"Try" them in a court of law, under this countries constitution---long long jail terms--hard labor. It's the "least" a real american can do!!All those in favor say yea---the yea's have it!! [Big Grin]
Yes LB there is no need to worry about big brother. Give the general public with their television educations a couple more decades and they'll gladly give up all their rights.
A guy posted something interesting awhile back, info on Russia and Japan.During the cold war and WWII with Japan their war planners discussed taking the war straight to america--a full scale attack. After some discussion/research they realized the gun toting "cowboys"as it called us would shoot them all.So much for that plan!!
I think alot the liberal stuff has hit a plateau myself.I work around alot of young people and tell them about guns and hunting.I'm going to take 3 city slickers to the range soon!!Let them shoot a 22-250 at the 600yd.target [Razz] Sporterweight
