Guy's,
After I saw the post by Wiley E ordering a WT I had to do something drastic. One of those new Loudmouth callers is being built for me as I type this. All eight of the sounds on mine were made with my own vocal chords, my own lips or one of my cow horn howlers. It will be interesting to see how well mine stacks up along side of Wiley's new WT. I ain't that dang far away from Wiley that I couldn't drive up there for a comparison. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)
For those of you who are wondering why I am gonna use my own sounds on an electronic, well here is the real truth. The terrain around here is so dang brushy and hilly that coyotes find it easy to circle down-wind and catch my scent. Placing the new Loudmouth cross-wind of my hidey hole at least fifty yards (sometimes a lot more) should help fool the nose of a few Iowa coyotes. Why my own sounds rather than those "real" critter sounds I could buy? Pride guy's, pure old stubborn and thick headed pride.

Sounds like a good plan, to me.
I have a recording of me on a diaphram call, very realistic, even the airplane in the background is easy to hear, when I turn it up. Too bad I didn't notice it when I recorded it. I tried closed rooms, too much echo.

Do you have one your "duets" on that machine? (Rich has a pair "mama and baby rabbit" distress sounds that are really good... when are you gonna be offering those tapes for sale Rich?)
Sure would be neat to have some field testing of those... done by someone who actually knows how to shoot coyotes. ![[Wink]](wink.gif) I keep trying them but... well, you know...

Here's a trick for you... use your headphones to record... plug them into "line" on the back of you 'puter and use your favorite sound program. They will not record very loud (I haven't tried a diaphram) but if you hold it right up to your mouth it should work... and no backround noise.
This technique works really well for extremely loud sounds, like howling and rabbit distress (I can really pour it on, with the distress, much louder and more emotional than I could do with just hand calling).
I am always looking for "test team members" if anyone would like to try some of my sounds, I'd be glad to offer them up... I have a "box of pups" I am particularly proud of (made with a K&H Howler with custom thin reed).
Gimme a yell if anyone wants to try some (or even just listen to them).

If all goes well, both versions of the lipsqueak duet will be on my sound board. I have one field tester out there right now. I think you know him.

How about a brief description of this new caller Rich? Remote capability, size, weight,quality of sound....is it studio grade or toy quality:). Ive heard lots of chatter about this one, but no particulars yet.

As soon as I get my hands on the new Loudmouth, I can begin to answer most of your questions. I promise you that results of all of my field testing will be reported in perfect honesty. I doubt very much that my sounds will be "studio" grade, because I didn't use a studio to record my sounds. My voice howls and lip squeaks were recorded onto my computer through a desktop microphone from Radio Shack. Same with my pup sqeals which were recorings of me on a cow horn howler. The two versions of lipsqueak duets were sent to my friend Krusty who in turn did the mixing of sounds and now they sound like two critters crying at same time. I won't know how good the sound will be when it comes out of the Loudmouth speaker as of yet. I am betting that the sounds will be of high quality though. Only time will tell sir.

I sent the sounds to Wayne already. He is now evaluating the sound quality. If good enough to suit Wayne, he will put the sounds onto my new sound board. You are my field tester right now Krusty.

Why wouldn't you want sounds that you cannot duplicate with your own vocal chords, your own lips, or your own cow horn howlers?
I was looking for sounds that I didn't already have and also the remote capabilities of getting the sound away from me.

Your questions are valid. My reason for going with my own sounds is two fold. Stubborn pride is one reason. I enjoy calling critters with my own sounds. There is also the fact that I make predator calls and howlers which I believe to be the best available, and I don't want to "cheat" by using other peoples sounds. I have never claimed to be something that I'm not.
Reason for going with remote controlled electronic caller is to get the sound out away from my hidey hole. Placing the speaker cross-wind should give me an advantage in the terrain which I hunt.
If my own sounds get to boring, the coyotes wise up to my sounds or I learn that I was wrong about MY sounds being just as good as those of real critters----Well I can always get a new sound board.
