One should be very careful when seeking advise. I have been talking with ((((( Slydog ))))) the advise that he has given me. Well, his advise has hurt me. It is all his fault. That's my story and I am sticking to it. The story starts like this. I recently fell on hard times. All of a sudden I could not call in coyotes, the only thing that seemed to respond to my series was moose. This is where Slydog enters the story. He devised a tactic, and asked me to give it a try. And this is what happened to me. I went hunting with out my sled (my great idea) as I hunted into the wind. Today it was 9 deg. with 20-30 mph wind. I started makeing stands when I was about 300 yrds. from the truck. My first stand I made two series of calls saw nothing. As I was looking for a place to make a second stand. By the time I could fimd a suitable stand I was at the field that I wanted to stop hunting at. I found a good setup. The field is around 1,200-1,500 acres, it is around 4,500-5,000 yrds. long and 500 to 1,000 yrds. wide. The length of the field runs east to west. The wind was blowing from north-north west I took a position on the east end I directed my calls toward the field. On the second series of distress calls a pair of coyotes came a running. I threw up the trusty ole tripple duece. As I gave him a round, just like a sack of taters at about 175yds. I turned my thunder stick to the second this yote, which was flat out skinen cat. It must have been about 250-275 and she stoped. So I gave her a round, forgeting about that strong wind I saw the snow explode just infront of her. I was just about to give her a second when I remember that we have armpit deep snow. I will get her on another day. So here is the part of how Slydog hurt my back. It took me a touch over 2 maybe 2 1/2 hours to drag that big yote back to my truck. I will have to weight it but it should be in the mid 50's. So like I was saying becareful what you ask for cuz he just might help you get a sore back also.

Sly thank you for the sore back. I hope to make it sore more often. Well until you can figure out how to get them to heel, in the back of my truck. Until then invest in Aleve. I will need more and you just might also.

Thanks again and happy hunting.

This is not clear, to me. Exactly what did you do differently? I need help, myself.

Good hunting. LB

edit: don't know about Aleve, is that Ibuprofin? But, what I take for the occasional back pain is Naprocen or Naproxin. You may want to try it, it's available over the counter, now.

What Sly did for me was change how I called a sequence. [Eek!] It made quite a difference. He simplified my sequence and with each series I spend more time looking for the yotes and less times squeeling.

I may have sugested you try a new way of calling but I had nothing to do with where you shot the dog and how far in armpit deep snow you had to drag it, without a rope. LOL Just for everyones bennifit tell us how you rolled your sled and landed on your poore broke back, the day after your back was suposibly broke....LOL I feel bad....Realy I do... snicker.. snicker

For entertainment perpose only. Do not try this at home, with out good insurance. This stunt performed by a trained professional on a closed course. The other day my pard and I went huntin'. I meet him at his house, after a fresh cup of coffee and a discussion of the game plan. We jumped on our sleds, my pard in front of me, crossed the road. The snow bank has been winged, meaning they use a side wing plow to push the snow bank back. The bank is about four feet tall when you get to the flat area created by the wing. Then you have the rest of the bank, whichs varies in height. The total height in front of his house is about 9 feet. As my pard is on the top of the bank I make my run on the bank. As I start up I see him laughing, and I realize that he is not moveing. So he guns the gas throws snow all over me and digs a pretty good trench. At this point I was on the ledge made from the wing, the remainder of the bank was about 5 feet tall and a 45 deg. angle. I had to gun it to climb the bank, my track gets into the trench he made as my track digs the trench deeper the angle of attack was getting steeper very fast. As my skis toped the bank the track busts through the bank and right over backwards she comes right on top of me.

This happens the day after Sly makes me shoot that dog and it took me two hours to drag him out.

To get a good idea of what that sled flipping over looks like keep your eyes open for ESPN to run the snowmobile hill climbs. Look for the one fliping down the hill that is how I felt.
