Do you ever have time to get down to this part of the country? It seems that there are more coyote hunters in my part of the woods these days.
Maybe we could put something together for an Idaho club/club hunt??? Would welcome input from other Idaho predator hunters.

I'm watching this one close. I think this 20t-n-t is the guy killing all the coyotes in Northern Nevada. You guys keep an eye on this dude, I also think he has a friend in S.D. The two of em want to kill every coyote that lives east of the Mississippi so I hear? Hehehe...Good Hunting Guys.

I never have hunted for coyotes down in your part of the state. I think it would be fun to have a hunt/get together of sorts, where we could meet other callers, do some calling, exchange ideas, and learn. I'd like the chance to put a face to the name of some of these guys on the predator boards. I think it would be nice to make it open to others who might be interested also. Guys from Utah, Nevada, Oregon, or however far a guy feels inclined to travel. Don't know if thats the type of thing you had in mind though?
I have read on the boards before about guys who organized hunts in other states and it looks like it could be a real nightmare at times for the guy doing the organizing. Getting everybody to agree on a time schedule and finding enough area to spread people out could be tough. Keep it informal and loose would be my suggestion.
As far as an actual club is concerned, family, work, and hunting, keep me pretty busy and I don't know if I could help much there. I'd try to help where I could though. Take care Sly.

Lonny , The only problem with having them come hunt up here is when they find out how many coyotes we have, How will we get RID of them. ![[Razz]](tongue.gif)
Realy though, I do want to put together a informal hunt/ get togather here in Idaho. As far as ground goes thats no problem.
"The club"thing is just an idea to get the state predator hunters together two or three times a year for club hunts and BBQ's and maybe to have an offical state champion for Idaho to reprsent us at other hunts?? Just an idea.
I know that there are other Idaho boys that are readin this, so let hear your ideas guys.

I like the idea of an informal hunt and BBQ. Sounds like fun. Start off simple and see how things go and what kind of turnout you get. I'd favor a late fall/winter hunt myself. Don't know if that works for you or others though. Now would probably be a good time to set plans for a hunt in the future, that way people have plenty of time to plan ahead. From what I know of you Sly, your the type of guy who gets things done. So, I'm sure if you want it to happen it will take off. I would like to try and come down your way to hunt sometime. I very much appreciate the offer by the way. Thank you.
I'd bet once the word spreads and guys get wind of it you'll probably get more input and suggestions than you need Take care and good hunting Sly.

Sly, buddy, ol pal of mine, come on pard, if the gods are with me, maybe I just could be the most eastern member of such an exclusive club. My wife would just love, Hey honey I have a club meeting, in Idaho, I will be back before you know it. Oh by the way the meeting is next week but I am leaving today, don't want to be late. Just one more thing I had to take two weeks vacation, sorry we can't take that vacation you have been dreaming about this year. Remember hearing about that Elvis movie a few years back " 3,000 to Graceland " In my case it would be (according to mapquest 3061.63 miles and 50.8hrs. one way)to the Slyland.
That better be some good BBQ. I just might be able to scare up some moose steaks, and any road kill along the way, ( goes with out saying).
Winter is better for me, I just hope you have less snow.
On a serious note, I went huntin yesterday, let me set this up.
It was a very warm day (15 deg) can't pass this up. Got on the sled went to the back field set up a target, without getting off the sled (now that is talent). Headed to the top of the hill hit the range finder, 219yds so I gave the target a few rounds, ziped down to the target, I am happy with the group, three were the size of a silver dollar and the fourth about a inch from that. Not bad considering the wind. Now heading off to the first stand, makeing sure I don't park on a drift. Experience being the teacher I had my gear in a back pack, through that on, slung on my yote killer. Before I step off the sled take a good look around, look and see how deep the sled is sitting in the snow (precautionary before shuting off). Every thing looked good, confidence is high. I steped off the sled, and bam just like quicksand. As I stood there wondering what just happened, I look up and a little to the left, and there it was the track to the sled. Ever had that falling feeling? Now I can finally say I have been up to my eyeballs in snow. I wish I had a jacobs ladder to hang off of the side of the sled. I am here to tell you it is much harder than it sounds, but oh well (climbing onto a sled when the bottom is higher than your head). It took a few minutes but I clawed my way out. As I sat on the sled to figure out what to do next. So I went home and asked the boss if I could be a club in Idaho. She said what are you doing home so early, so I went rideing around scouting. How do I order a little warmer weather, can that be done over the internet?

Seriously the snow thing is getting a little out of hand. It is playing havoc on any kind of patterns, previesly established. It is kind of like ugh, time to try something new for 30 stands and see if it works. These little obsticals is what makes this so much fun.

But for real, there is a lot of intrest around here by the predator hunters, to form a club. So I played with a name for our club and this is what I came up with.
GEM STATE PREDATOR HUNTERS ASSN.
I'm open to sugestions and welcome them. The club will be Boise based and will have chapters that will cover the state by reigon. I am in the process of building a data base for the club. Anyone interested can e-mail me their info and I will be sending a flyer out with details A.S.A.P.
Also will welcome ideas on logo for club. Just remember the Kiss rule, Keep it stupid simple, LOL

Sly after seeing what has been written my wife decided that after carefull consideration, that were are just a little to much even for her. She says we have issues. I said thanks for noticeing, she said it was not ment as a complement. She said if we had brains we would take them out and play with em. Before I could even thank her for her kind words, she said refer to comment about not a complement. She then offered to sew snowshoes to the seat of my pant if I thought that it would help slow the decent through the snow. I took up her offer, but she said I have embarassed her enough in public, and wants no part of it.
I am thinking of a new screen name Mr. Mapquest, or maybe Mapquest Maineiac ugh hey there is smoke in the room, oh thats just me thinking.

Hold on she just said that she's not sure she wants to go anymore.
I just got the ultimate complament "your worse than a kid".
Now she is saying that Mrs. Sly and her will just go shoping. And the Forrest Gump Coyote Club can go hunting by themselves. And have that BBQ done and cold beer ready when they are done with shoping.

The fine woman in my life that lets me think that I am incharge, is watching the outdoor channel and just saw on of those four wheelers in the dessert, the kind with the flag on the back rack. She wants to know if any of you fellers out west knows where to get one. She wants to sew that to the seat of my pants so when I dismount my ride (snow sled this time of year) and am in snow to my eyeballs, the resque rangers from the Forrest Gump Coyote Club can find me. She said not to worry she would pack me 3-4 days of food and water.

I'm convinced that she will have the SUV gassed up and ready for their outing. I have already contacted my real estate agent, to make ready the sale of some property to pay for this little outing { and of corse to pay for supplys for the club }, so I'm ready. ARE YOU???

To say the least my wife is always up for shopping. If I had to guess I would say all women are. I will tell you what bad is. My wife with my truck and pay check on her way to an antique shop. The bed is empty when she leaves but not when she gets home. The worst is when she comes to work and says, I just stoped by for your truck.
Sly I just found out that I am going back to Ft. Benning I am not sure when I am going. If you want anything from there or Ranger Joe's let me know. I will let you know when I find out that I am going.

Everybody knows all the coyotes are in the southern & eastern part of the state. Only wolves and bears around here now. Used to have some deer & elk once up-on-a-time. Lonny, myself, and a couple of other callers kill very few dogs around here, truefully. We would be glad to come down and hunt your areas. Pete in Idaho.
PS--Danny, thought your were moving to Elk City?

Glad to see more Idaho boys here,but I'm not sure that I want you northend boys comming down here and killing off all the coyotes while you give your northend coyotes a chance to populate. LOL I guess if you don't mind if I come up and kill your big white tails and turkeys, I wont mind if you help me control the dogs around here.

lets get with Pete and plan a little get together/ hunt before its over this year. I have a trouble pack that I'm having a hard time working on a ranch. Maybe some new tactic's would smoke them out. Its tuff hunting this particular pack, because they get some pressure from 3 diffrent factions and have been hard to work, but there are at least 7 in this family unit and when they respond they all come in at once.
I have been setting them up just a little. Been shooting picket pins and placing them around two spots that I have called them in to but I haven't shot at them, Yet. There has been to many responding at one time for one shooter to handle and when the smoke clears I dought if they will respond to calls in this area for a long time. I need a big number from this pack as they are the trouble dogs in this area.
I also have many places we can find yotes in good numbers on public lands that no one hunts after the deer hunting season.

You are right, we had talked about the 10ga. about 4yrs. ago. I was tempted more then I could resist, can you ever forgive me. What I fell to/for was a pre 64 Win. M70(very clean) rebarreled by R. G. Douglas to 338 mag. complete with Leupold 4X scope, Redding dies, and 150rds. of brass. Straight across for the 10ga. BPS. I was over come, that's my excuse. Call em in close__Pete

20t-n-t, Thats a keeper whitetail, good going. I saw lots of them in Idaho, but not as big as the one you got. A guy in Grangeville told me a hot spot for whitetails not to far from Elk City. If the fishing store in Grangeville is still open (the one on hwy 95, not the one in town) check it out, you'll see some of my trophies. I left em there, didn't want to lugg them all around the country. The first time I ever went on the road next to the south fork of the clearwater to Elk City I saw moose, bald eagles and deer, I thought I was in heaven. Was looking for goats but didn't see any, Lots of game up there but real steep country. I'm sure you stoped and eat in the place we bought in Elk City......and If you could do Charlene and I a big faver next time your there, Stop at the RENO saloon and say hi to our friends Farris and Dick, great people and good food.
