Welcome to the New Huntmasters, Walt.
I'm pretty sure there are some High Desert members that live in your area.
Good hunting. LB

Hi guys, it's my first time on this forum. I'm humbled by the wealth of information here.
Like walt, I'm interested in coyote hunting. My problem is that I've never been. Some of the guys I work with talk about it all the time--so much, in fact, that they got me interested in it. They work the completely opposite shift (AM versus PM shifts)so that it is very difficult, if not impossible, to go watch these guys hunt.
I've done lots of research/obsessing about this sport and bought my first "rabbit in distress" call last month (kinda' reminds me of the excitement of buying your first box of condoms...) I also have a .22 LR rifle, a camera, no hunting license, and a lot of patience.
Would it be inappropriate to ask if there are any remote places near Upland, CA -hint, hint Leonard - where i can try to call them in to take a picture of them? I've read that post about not using enough gun and don't plan on killing anything yet without the proper tools. BTW, tax time is comming up I'm expecting to buy a new rifle and scope (totally different topic). Again, my goal is to take pictures of them as of now--just to see what it's like.
Thank you for any replies! Happy Hunting!

Welcome, Neil.
Since you live in Upland, you can go to quarries on either side of town, just north of the 210 and the chances are extremely good that you can call a coyote, early or late in the day. Some individuals are feeding them. Then his neighbor can't find Fluffy?
Good hunting. LB

Heya Leonard!
Thanks for the info! At 24th St. at about where Campus would intersect, there is a flood basin. The sign says something about a Cucmonga trail or something...I don't remember exactly. I decided to explore and found some doggy poop loaded with short white hairs and a whole bunch of paw marks that don't look like a dog's. I was there approximately 4pm. I made some baby crying noises with the rabbit-in-distress call (that's what the guys said to make it sound like)for about a minute and tried again after 5 minutes. I saw nothing.
I still feel excited about seeing the paw marks and the hairy poop! Maybe I'll go visit again...
Any advice on how to improve my chances of spotting one?

Just about anywhere up there is good. You need to pick a time when production is shut down, weekends, etc.
Wander around a bit and you should see a lot of tracks. Be careful about trespass!
Good luck. LB
