First of all, while this may probably belong in the Political Forum, the article paints a picture that the NRA is overextended and has some "interesting" business dealings.

Without the NRA, we are nothing, I'm sure of that, so they need our support but we need to be confident that they are spending our money intelligently. That's all I got to say, so read it yourself. Fair warning, it's long and convoluted. LB

I have been a member since 1976 and I agree that we need the NRA, but they need to clean house. I'm tried of getting calls and letters to give money for some fat cat to live the high life. That's my 2cents!

Reading the article you linked to was very timely for me. This article from the New Yorker really hit me with my feelings about this month's American Rifleman. The NRA is always asking for money, the May issue of the American Rifleman seemed even more so. They are holding a raffle for a 4x4 truck. One article said "Your Dues are Not Enough". Another article titled "STOP THE NRA SHUTDOWN" said "Unless we can force Cuomo to break off this attack, NRA with have no choice but to cease operations and close our doors." The NRA is sounding desperate. I don't want them to shut down but they do need to clean up their act. I am going to write to them and offer to "STOP THE SHUTDOWN" if they fire Wayne LaPierre and Ackerman, and replace LaPierre with an executive that knows how to cut costs. A bunch of self serving Bastards.

I can't help thinking that since the article appeared in the New Yorker, it has to be deceptively slanted. But even if it's half true, that still leaves a lot of questions for an organization that I had previously considered above reproach.

The $10,000 question is how do we change them. If the article is half true we need to start draining the NRA swamp.

I'm joining Gun Owners of America. I wish all NRA members would do the same.

I just joined GOA and went to the NRA's site to email them at
https://contact.nra.org/

I put in all of my information and included the following comment:

"I just joined Gun Owners of America and paid them an additional $30 to fight the fight you should be fighting. It greatly disturbs me that a true patriot like Oliver North is ousted, and the ugly things he says about you ring true. LaPierre must go along with all affiliations of Ackerman McQueen. The NRA has become a self serving enterprises of LaPierre and all of his cronies."

I hit the submit button and nothing happens. It looks to me like they shut it down.

I'm not ready to pick out the hero and the heel in this fiasco, just yet. I need to see a little fallout, but it's a shame because I have respect for both of those guys....until we learn more, at least.

As far as your comment being rejected, or not accepted, it could be that the system flooded, nothing nefarious?

All I know is our Liberal friends are loving this shit. I'd like to see it wrapped up ASAP. As far as I am concerned, it's like Donald Trump. We need to take the good with the bad and God help us if the NRA starts circling the drain.

The NRA has been pissing me off for years with their glossy mailers giving away free crap I always sign up but hesitate to do a life membership and be pissed off they they still send me the enrollment crap. Just put all that money in the legal fund ! how hard would that be !

Hey Paul,
I've been a life member since '83 and rarely hear anything from them. It would be nice if they'd let me know about a benefit event nearby or something but mostly,...………. nothing.

I hope someone at the NRA headquarters looks at social media/hunting forums because if they do they will see lots and lots of people are losing faith in them, when it comes to fighting tooth and nail for the 2A. I am another that believes there needs to be a change at the top and I also another that wishes they'd use less of my money for mailers, but for now they are the force that politicians fear the most, so I don't feel like there's another better option. Maybe GOA will keep gaining members and will also keep us in the game. No doubt we need all the help we can get.

I'm with Leonard on this. As disturbing as the reports are, I'm even more concerned about where those reports are coming FROM. The media is no friend of gun owners and I wouldn't put it past them to raise a false flag to try and fuel a revolt against the NRA's upper echelons. Doing so would peel a certain number of gullibles off the front line, and cost the Association a ton of money to refute media claims - money which then would not be available for pro-2A efforts. Divide and conquer. Unless and until I see something about this from a source I regard to be reliable and objective, I'm on the fence. Has Uncle Ted issued a statement on this yet?
