I am not 100% sure of it, but I think today is the birthday of a world famous predator hunter from California. Can anyone guess who it is? And he was not on Cdog911 lists.

Posted by Rich Higgins (Member # 3) on September 12, 2005, 06:51 PM:

I know! I know!
He gets a little crotchety on this day because it makes him a whole year older than the rest of us.

If it's who we think it is, he deserves to be at the top of the list. Who brought the beer?

Warms the cockles of me heart, but not today.

September 15, 1942, a day that will live in infamy, but was exactly (plus or minus a couple days) nine months following Dec. 7, 1941. In any case, I was probably planned that evening? Think so?

Good hunting. LB

Don't mean to high-jack this thread but I just noticed that 22-250 was from Longview, Texas. Heck that ain't but about 25 miles from me. [Smile]

Happy Birthday Leonard. [Big Grin]

Mine was the 10th.

My brother used to live in Longview. How 'bout that?
Not that far from Arizona either.

Happy Birthday.

I know he's originally from Texas, but he is living in Poway, California for a very long time. Like twenty years, or so? He don't even talk funny anymore. [Smile]

Good hunting. LB

Bryon,

I am from Longview. When I went of U of Texas, never made it back. The Navy got me to San Diego and never look backward. Still have some properties back there. I wonder, how is the coyote population around Sabine river bottom area?

Happy one to ya Leonard. It's nice to know you'll always be 6 months older then me. [Wink]

2dogs, I have a picture of Leonard in my high School year book, he has not changed much in 45 years.

Happy birthday Leonard.

22-250

The coyote population around here is pretty good. The sabine river bottom is great and holds lots of bobcats as well. If you give me directions to your places I will check them out first hand and let you know what I find. [Big Grin] .

Thanks for the well wishes, but I still have to wait until tomorrow to make it official.

In regards to what Danny said. You know, some people you cannot recognize after the passage of years. I remember going to the 35 year high school reunion, where the Principal (Mr Barton) was at the front welcome desk where they hand out the name tags, etc. He looked over and said; "Leonard Bosinski, I'd know you anywhere". Now, this was with a 700 member graduating class, and he was at that school from the 1940s to the 1980s.

Good hunting. LB

Leonard,

Your comment, on your [old]-Principal. Remembering you from "yrs ago". Out of a flock of 700.

Makes me wonder, if predator hunter's are not "marked at birth"?? or possibly, emit some kinda aura/scent.

"If" my theory...[weak, I know], was not true. Why would he...[re-call] you so clearly?

BTW, seen my old Principal from Grade School awhile back. He remembered me, as well [Eek!] , go figure.

Must be a, White-Tip....Black-Tip kinda thing [Big Grin]

A very Happy Birthday to you Leonard. Hope you get a new truck so I can purchase that old beat up one from you.

They did not let me come to any class reunions. Something about teachers having flash backs.

Yeah, I have to put myself in that catagory. I was an academic, but I ran with the bad boys. Danny says now, that he was afraid of me, back then. Go figure?

Good hunting. LB

You're still a badboy. Banned from Copyote Gods and Predator Masters.... and I'm not. [Big Grin]

Posted by onecoyote (Member # 129) on September 14, 2005, 03:35 PM:

I wasn't afraid, I just stayed away from you. In your younger days you looked pretty tuff and I was just a skinny kid. [Frown] The kind that got sand kicked in there face

The guys that scared me were guys like 6'6 Ken Strickland and that 350lb Chauncy Walker...Oh I forgot about 7' Bill Ingerser or how ever you spelled it, they were BIG and MEAN looking.

Them guys are probably the reason I took up predator hunting [Wink]

Mr. Barton was one of my teachers and a damn good one. I think you told me he passed away a couple years back.

Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on September 14, 2005, 04:57 PM:

Same here, Danny. I had Barton in a Biology class, I never knew he became Principle shortly after I was graduated.

Come on, I scared you to death, admit it! [Smile]

Good hunting. LB

edit: PS you know Chauncy and Strickland died before they were 30, drugs.

OK Rich, Spill the story behind that "Typo"

And Happy Birthday to the Great Lenbo! Byron tells me that you were old enough to legaly drink beer, before we were even born, is that true?

Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on September 14, 2005, 11:21 PM:

I saw that too, Tim. Can't figure out if it's:

1) copy-ote or

2) cop-yote Gods?

Now, spill the story on your typo:

quote:
legaly drink beer
Is that:

1) le-galy or

2) leg-aly ?

The answer is yes. I had an early career. My heavy drinking was while in the military; I think I got my fill after that. Nowadays, two or three beers knock the props out from under me.

Good hunting. LB

edit: Happy Birthday wishes to Prince Harry, another young party animal.

That's pretty neat they let you back to visit your old high school. The last day I was at mine (West High in Salt Lake), I was escorted off the campus by police and told I'd be arrested for tresspassing if I ever set foot there again. True story!

Happy Bday, Leonard.

pup, watch out! I turned 40 a year ago and everything went to hell in a handbasket. Worse summer I've ever endured. Lucky to be alive now for my 41st. If it only gets worse from here, shoot me now.

cdog911,

Thanks for the heads up, but I sure hope not. 39 was just about all I wanted. Diverticulosis, and a hernia, meanwhile I am still trying to get the house done.

It is all better now though. Passed a CE test yesterday, which put me up for a raise. We should be ready for the sheetrock crew after this weekend and siding is going up rather well.

I have a hunt planned for this Saturday, I say hunt, but really just first stand, then back to work. Hey at this point I'll take what ever time I can get. This spot is close to town and we need to call it as soon as we can as it gets some drive by action from the locals.

I think I was overly dramatic, with the [Frown] K. Has not been that bad, a gun with a new chambering that I am not desperate for, and some dies for that gun that don't matter, since it's not here yet? But, tracking says the package should be here tomorrow.

Again, thanks everybody for the well wishes, I appreciate it very much.

And, from Miss Joyce, too! How is your injury healing? We all really feel bad for you.

Good hunting. LB

Doing good here. The bedsheets and the wind still irritate it a bit. And Tim likes to "test" it a few times a week to see if it still hurts. Had a school meeting Tuesday and had to wear pants. Could not wait to get home and put my shorts back on. I should have Tim post a updated photo of it.
63 is a good number, here's to many more.

Happy belated Leonard, Byron and Jim too. I stopped paying attention to my birthdays after 25 when my insurance went down.

Miss Joyce, Heather and I are happy to hear that you are healing nicely without complications.
